Comments about Sabian HHX Stage Hi Hats:

I got these on a deal, but even for the price they are now it's worth it. They have a nice click sound when closed and a gorgeous ring when opened even a little. I love the look of them, too - they're the shiniest things I own, even after 6+ months of playing on them. They're a bit pricey - duh, HHX series. If you're up for spending this much (still 100's off MSRP, thank you Musicians Friend!) it's worth it.

    HHX is at the top

Comments about Sabian HHX Stage Hi Hats:

As with most young drummers, I loved all the bright, shiny, "cool" cymbals. I loved the brilliant AAX and AA lines. I never spared the HHX or HH a glance. But as I have evolved as a musician, I began to hate the super bright occasionaly annoying and overtones from my AAX cymbals. My AAX Stage hats were good, but didn't have that smooth wash or presence that I wanted. Since I liked the feel though, I went to HHX Stage hats and you guessed it, wow. These are absolutely the best hihats I have ever played and/or heard. Dark yes, but not so dark they seem out of place. The chick is solid and deep, but extremely crisp at the same time. As soon as you even slightly open them, there is a beautiful wash that is not clangy at all. Just sweet, smooth dark tones. It is powerful though. Not exactly loud (they are quieter than the AAX hats) but projecting. This is a great thing to have on stage. Don't worry, these aren't to metallic if you play open a lot, I do and these are perfect. Heck, even the bell sounds great. They are so versatile, that extremely soft mellow parts are played with ease, but you can kick out some volume when needed. Duribility is there and these will last. Now of course, HHX, HH, K and any other series like these are going to cost you, but PLEASE believe me when I say IT IS COMPLETELY WORTH IT. Don't suffer with those bad sounding hats. These are a dream to play. And I will play them forever.

    Great Hats! Worth Every Penny!

Comments about Sabian HHX Stage Hi Hats:

I have played these hats for the better part of the last 5 years and have taken anything I can throw at them. As said in prior reviews, these are super dark and super thick hats, so try before you buy.I had a pair of Byzance Medium hats for a couple months (which rule also) but I had to go back to the stage hats. Good for any situation. If you love dark sounding stuff, you can't beat 'em. If you want a bright chick/wash and a cymbal you can dig into, go elsewhere.

    Great dark sounding hats

Comments about Sabian HHX Stage Hi Hats:

These hats are worth their name. "HHX Stage Hats". They're definitely dark sounding, very pronounced stick definition when closed, and a powerful kind of wash when opened. Do try before you buy, because these hats may sound too dark for some. Those who think it's a little too trashy should try HHX Groove Hats.

    These are phenomenal Cymbals

Comments about Sabian HHX Stage Hi Hats:

I have the 14" hats and they are great. They sound really well when played with 5a nylon tips, which is what I use, and project really well in live venues. I've recorded with them and they were fantastic. Mine are traditional finish and are absolutely beautiful under lights. Bottom line...if you can afford these, get them, they are a very wise investment.

Didn't have that mid punchyness that I wanted.

Comments about Sabian HHX Stage Hi Hats:

Doing studio sessions with it wasn't that bad, but in live situations, the harder I hit the lower the tone went.
