Sabian

Designed by the Sabian Vault Team to deliver increased speed and crisp, highly defined clarity.

Sabian delivers the shivers with the HHX Super Cymbal Pack. It features sonically advanced cymbals that deliver excellent projection and a full, rich tone with tight focus and quick response. Each cymbal in the set is handcrafted from Sabian's B20 bronze, a combination of 80% copper with silver and 20% tin. They are 'Sonically Matched' as pairs, and they are quality-protected by the Sabian 2-Year Warranty.

This Sabian cymbal set includes a set of 14" X-Celerator hi-hats, 14", 16", and 18" Studio crashes, a 10" splash, and a 20" Stage ride.

HHX X-Celerator Hi-Hat Set
Designed by the Sabian Vault Team to deliver increased speed and crisp, highly defined clarity. While the simmering, modern HHX tonality is generated by the medium-weight top cymbal, the speed and crispness are created by the heavy bottom and its contoured 'Air Wave' design. These contours expel air when the cymbals come together, eliminating sound-muting airlock to create a combination of tone and projection.

HHX Studio Crash Cymbals
The HHX Studio Crash has a thin design loaded with bright tone that shimmers with pure musicality. HHX cymbals put out rich, simmering tones. Super-sized hammering and an exclusive Tone Projection feature add bite to project the musical sounds of HHX Cymbals through everything from pumped-up grooves and thickly textured tracks, to guitar-heavy, high-end wailing. HHX Cymbals combine the best of two worlds, traditional tone and modern projection.

HHX Stage Ride Cymbal
The HHX Stage Ride offers bright stick definition within a shimmering blend of glassy tones, all topped with a solid raw bell. Medium.

HHX Splash Cymbal
The HHX splash delivers fast, biting, and colorful tones with a punchy attack and rapid decay rate with increased punch. Extra thin.

Awesome cymbal pack!

Features:

Absolutely superb set of cymbals!!! I'm a soft to medium hitter and I just love the dynamics of the 18" Studio Crash & 20" Stage Ride. Both are crashable & work great for riding/thrashing. The ride has got a loud bell. What really stands out is the shimmer on the ride across from the edge all the way to the bell. Quite a complex tone (not the most complex I've heard - the Sabian Artisan & Istanbul Agop Signature Agops, Zildjian K Customs are definitely more complex), but very versatile without becoming too overbearing.

The Studio crashes - what can I say, they just have this lovely swell to them (almost as if one was playing them with a mallet but with the attack of a stick).

The hi-hats took me a little getting used to - I won't say they're ideal (the HHX Groove Hats have a nicer cleaner sound) but they more than get the job done once you learn to control them. They definitely grow on you!

Likewise for the 10" Splash. It's not quite as glassy as I'd have liked but it definitely provides variety and nice generic splash sound.

I must admit, the sound samples on Sabian's website are absolutely on the spot for this entire set. Very true to what you hear yourself!

Quality:

While I myself have no problems, I'm not sure if the splash/crashes can handle a solid thrashing (especially under heavy hands or with drummers with bad technique - I play with a light-medium touch most of the time) in live situations but with good overheads, and a solid engineer at the mix, I think these can get through most gigs.

The rest of the cymbals feel pretty solid to me!

Value:

I got these at an amazing discounted price, so I just cannot complain at the sound quality boost these have given to my drumming!

Get this set while it's still available!!

Overall:

The crashes & ride are spot on. The splashes & hi-hats are great for the set. However, I'd love to complement this set with a Sabian Paragon Effect Cymbal Pack (19" China, & 8" & 10" Splashes), 13" HHX Groove Hats, 18" HHX China & a 22" Artisan Ride. Now that would be one heckuva kit to play!

Sabian's won me over this time!

The cymbals are okay if you are only in recording. These are not Loud enough for Live situations. Buy the AAX's instead. Do not bother with these if you play live gigs.

These cymbals are fantastic. They are perfect for every kind of music. the crashes are pristine, the hats are crisp or washy whenever you want. the ride is can be washy or clean hits. the splash is awesome as well. I experimented with the splash by setting it up as a stacker with the splash right on top of the 14" crash. Its great by itself as well. Fantastic set of cymbals for intermediate to advanced players.

Of all the cymbal packs on this site, this is the one I have coveted the longest.  Unfortunately, the price point is beyond my hobbyist reach, even though the goodies they added before Xmas made it almost impossible to resist.  I don't own the set but have listened to all the sound files on the Sabian site.  The only cymbal that gives me pause is Stage Ride; it has what I call a multi-layered sound, very complex, and to be expected in an HH cymbal.  But be sure it's your sound before you plunk down a grand.  All the rest of the cymbals sound perfect, though it always makes me wonder why companies like Sabian match a "Stage" ride to a set of "Studio" crashes and calls that matched. You'd think the "Stage" ride would match "Stage" crashes and "Studio" ride match "Studio" crashes. It makes you wonder if they might be packaging slow movers together.  But no matter.  These are absolutely gorgeous and the price cannot be beat for hand-hammered cymbals. I'd listen in person before buying online (the sound files can never be more than a guide) but if I had a spare grand lying around, I know where it would go.
