Sabian highlights multi-hole design with new Legacy O-Zone Ride.

A unique 5-hole design lightens the weight and increases the response rate of the Sabian Legacy O-Zone Ride Cymbal, while adding dark, dirty bite, for a very unique sound.

The HHX Legacy O-Zone Ride is Sabian's latest venture with its innovative multi-hole cymbal design. With 5 holes across its upper half removing a substantial amount of metal and making this area comparatively light and responsive, the top portion is ideal for crashing. The lower portion of the cymbal remains unlathed and is designed for riding.

Commented Sabian product specialist David Williams: "Sabian designed 'multi-hole' cymbals as far back as the mid-nineties, but they went public when Dave Weckl sought a specific sound and our response was the multi-holed HHX O-Zone Crash. This holed concept transforms the sound of any cymbal, making it more responsive while increasing its aggression and bite. With the Legacy O-Zone Ride it is possible to play sounds that are dark and dirty, or really lay into it and create a storm of roaring aggression. Whether you're looking at it or listening to it, there is nothing else like an O-Zone."

Added Dave Weckl: "The O-Zone Crash has created such a sensation; players love that dirty, biting sound. With the O-Zone Ride we've created a cymbal that is truly different but very useful in a wide range of playing applications. This is one of those cymbals that have such a unique voice that there is no denying its ability to influence the sound of any players sound."

The HHX Legacy O-Zone Ride is a medium-thin weight that--due to the holes--responds like a thin cymbal. Playing the upper area creates a raw, trashy response. Playing the lower half produces a ride sound that combine's soft stick articulation with a dirty wash of tone. Playing with power will generate a large, dark roar of tone.

HHX Legacy O-Zone cymbals are individually handcrafted from Sabian B20 'cast' bronze. They are available exclusively in Natural Finish, and are quality-protected by a special SABIAN 2-Year Warranty.

Comments about Sabian Legacy O-Zone Ride Cymbal:

My primary ride is a 22 inch, medium K-Zildjian that is a wonderful cymbal for articulated stick work (it will ping) and it has a sharp bell attack that cuts though the loudest axe-slingers. However, when I want a sustained wash, a lower volume staccato defined with even sustain or simply a monster crash, Sabian's Legacy O-Zone Ride Cymbal is exactly what I was looking for. It recreates that old school, vintage 60's thin-ride wash that helped define powerhouse players like Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell and Corky Laing back in the day. It mixes well with Ozone crash cymbals and it's dark overtones pick-up on overhead condensers in rock settings (eliminating the need for close miking) and despite it's light weight, it is rugged enough to withstand the heavy Rock abuse inflicted by my hickory Ralph Hardimon Corpsmasters (7/10's inch diameter and 17" long).

With smaller sticks, it is surprisingly responsive and well-defined for jazz combo and big band gigs. Different stick tips (bead, barrel, acorn, etc., wood vs. nylon) each bring unique sonic qualities, as does various brushes, rods and mallets. My Legacy sports Dave Weckl's signature in the underside bell and the hand-hammered, "natural" brilliant finish is eye-candy under stage lights. Overall, the Legacy O-Zone Ride is a result of extensive R&D, excellent B20 alloy and is a hallmark of quality craftsmanship, providing an excellent specialty cymbal that will increase in value as it ages.

    Great New Sound

Comments about Sabian Legacy O-Zone Ride Cymbal:

I have been looking for several months for a way to darken the sound of my cymbal set up and provide a broader palatte of tones. I've checked out some of the o-zone crashes and HHX crashes and love them. I also have been tempted by some of the new large, dark and dirty rides. These dark rides make great crash cymbles. I almost purchased one for this purpose. Then I found this cymbal. I gave me what I was looking for and brought some new fun to my kit. I got the crash I wanted and I also got a great alternate ride to compliment my brighter, cleaner ride. Switching to this o-zone ride on a chorus or second verse is really great. It completely alters the mood of a song enhances and how I can contribute to the music. This is a great addition to ANY kit!!

Comments about Sabian Legacy O-Zone Ride Cymbal:

I was looking at ride cymbals at my local music store, and they had this cymbal. It is a very very different ride. it has a very agressive crash when you hit it on the side (like you would hit a crash) and a very dampened, dry sound when you hit it normally. i didn't get it, because it wouldn't suite me for my kind of music, but i might end up getting it someday as some kind of "effect" ride. It is very unique! I rated it 5 on quality because all sabian cymbals are great quality. This is deffinately a cymbal you should try before you buy. it might sound a lot different than you think.

Wonderful dark sound, very versatile, musical

Comments about Sabian Legacy O-Zone Ride Cymbal:

This HHX Legacy Ozone RIde performs just as advertised. It is musical with a dark trashy sound that suits a real jazz drummers "trash ride" needs yet not too harsh and still retains some sound reminiscent of the great Legacy ride hidden inside it. It is much more musical than my Sabian AA Raw Ride or my Istanbul Trashi Hit 20" Crash Ride. It`s quick decay helps it send out musical distortion and overdrive sounds and then it quickly dies away allowing the sticking to come through. To just hit this cymbal without the band- it sounds dirty and dark- but it mixes into music very well. I use it alot now as a left hand ride with alot of positive comments from the audiences.
