OVERVIEW

Designed with the Rush drummer!

Medium weight, for fast, crisp responses and clean sticking.

Developed with Neil Peart of Rush, the Sabian Paragon series blends 2 styles of lathing for a very balanced hi-hat cymbal tone. Pinpoint lathing creates a narrower groove for a fast, lively response on the top, while the traditional AA lathing creates a wider groove for a fuller, richer tone on the bottom side.

Though Neil Peart is my favorite drummer, I am not one of those who buys cymbals just because his name is on them. I bought the 22" ride, and it is amazing. For crashes and splashes, I prefer a thinner cymbal, and I am sticking with my AA's. I own 14" Sabian Sizzle hats and 14" Paragon hats, and in my setup I play with the Paragon top, sizzle bottom (with the rivets removed). I have found that combo to have the best mix of stick definition, volume, sustain, and a nice "chick" when closed with my foot (which the 14" Paragons do not have when matched). With so many of the reviewers saying the 13" is better than the 14", I plan to buy the 13".

I bought the 13" paragon hats a while back because I got a great deal on them. I have them set up as secondary hi hats to my a customs. There's no comparison. The a customs are more musical, and sound far superior to my taste. With that said, the paragons are still decent cymbals for the right person. Someone who does hi hat playing along the lines of Stewart copleand would probably love these , but I don't play a whole lot on the hats and tend to really rely on my ride cymbals. Bottom line - not worth the money unless they really fit your playing style.

Amazing hi-hats

By rhythm companion

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

I have the 13" hi-hats and they are absolutely awesome. They sound very crisp, clear, and bright and have great sizzle when played barely open. The bell also sounds great when played open. They are such a pleasure to play that when I sit down to play them I'm usually stuck there a couple of hours.

Through and through the best hats I've ever owned. These are so crisp and clean, they're perfect for on-stage use or in the studio. Excellent stick definition, and super-cutting "chick."

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

I got these hats (14") right after the paragon line was released (maybe a couple of months or so... I use them for every show whether its blues, rock, punk, metal, etc. these hats cut through the mix, even after all of the smoky rooms and beer being thrown around.

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

Before I had my Paragons I had Zildjian ZBT hats and I needed new hats. So i went to my local dealer planning on buying a good set of Zildjian hi hats but to my surprise the Paragons caught my eyes and my ears and I just had to have them. Anything that is good enough for Neil Peart is good enough for me.

I read about the Paragons and the fact that I have been a Neil Peart fan for twenty years definately influenced my purchase but I was amazed at just how crisp they sound and how theycut through the other instruments without effort.I am very happy with the purchase and now must review the paragon crashes as well!

The Best

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

Let me just start off by saying...HOLY CRAP! These are the best hats I've ever played. I'm a huge Neil Peart fan and I figured these would be awesome. I went to check them out, and they were everything I could have dreamed. They are of the finest quality and have a pure, crisp, "chick". In their price range I think their the best. I tryed out some Zildjian A custom hats, and they weren't as crisp as these. I own the 13 inch hats, which are the same ones Neil uses as his main. The high price may be a downer, but save your money. You won't regret it. These are the best.

Solid Buy

By Curly the Heavy-Laden

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

I purchased these hi-hats about 4 months ago, and they've never let me down. Through metal, indie, and jazz, they'd been constant. I can't get over the beautiful "chick" sound, and they're very precise when open. Maybe a little overpriced, but if you have the funds, go for it. I promise you won't regret it.

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

I have owned these for almost a year now, they still sound as good as the day I got them, no signs of wear at all, the only thing about these is the price, I am 16, have no job, and had to work for like ten weeks just to get enough to buy them, but it was so worth it, before I had these, I had camber hats, which inverted when I stomped on that stuff. they have a great sound overall

Sabian Paragon 13 and 14

By Eric-dVxlJ

from Boston, MA

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

I bought a pair of 13's and 14's to really get a first hand impression of the performance and integrity of these signature hats. Let me just say that I was impressed with the quality of this line, however the 13's are ten times better than the 14's. The 13's are the ones I was impressed with. Very nice definition, clean sticking, nice chick, and versatile. Remember of course you will overpay b/c there is a name on them...All else being equal go with the 13".

By Axis for life

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

Just replaced my AA regulars with these. They are articulate, and not overwhelming when played open. The whoosh is not as defined as my AA's but thats to be expected since these are thinner. In fact you could almost flip them and not know the difference between top and bottom. All in all they are very nice and my guitar players are going nuts about how good they sound compared to my AA's. I guess I just have to get used to hearing a completely different sound coming from my hats.

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

I have been playing professonal for over 30 years and never seen this much quality in hi-hats. It has the crisp, clean, overall sound with an awesome "chick" noice. There is no better hi-hats out there!

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

After playing a few different brands I ended up with these at my favorite. They have a very solid chick sound, and are very dry and responsive. You can easily lay down a fat groove with these. They've got tons of sizzle when open, and are on the bright side. They only drawback is that the bell on mine has a frequency it likes to resonate at; a little tape on the inside of the bell fixed that though. Overall, an excellent value for the money.

Comments about Sabian Neil Peart Paragon Hi-Hats:

I picked up a pair of Paragon 14`s and I am very pleased with them. I needed a set of hats that could be used for many styles and volumes. I like the hissing sizzle and the silvery chik sound. I compare them to Sabian HHX Groove hats or even HHX Manhattan Jazz Hats. I am completely satisfied with them.

I have been struggling for a while trying to decide which cymbals to buy for my new dw kit. A friend of mine bought the Paragon ride and said it rocked. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the hats. The 14's are extremely responsive and washy with VERY clean sticking and a nice open hat sound. With these, you can't go wrong.
