The first Vault crash I purchased was the 19" about two years ago, and this was by a recommendation from a friend, mostly because I had been looking for a good quality crash, instead going through beginner models like water; not to mention I was also looking for a more complex sound. At first I was a tad skeptical, seeing as how I WAS always somewhat of a Zildjian guy, and although I had heard the crash before, I didn't think it was anything special, and he too had a 19". I always figured I could get the same sound with Zildjian's A Custom Series. So, on a wing and prayer, I bought the 19" and as soon as I heard MINE, I instantly fell in love with it. Although we have the size and models, there's still slight variations on the overall tone of the cymbals. I have a slightly darker, more "gong-y" sound than his. Well, I've become hooked, and since then I've bought the 16", 17", and 18", plus the 19". When I play them together, they sound in perfect harmony, playing off of each others tones. It's absolutely fantastic. Although, also since then, I have started to prefer darker sounding crashes, and in turn, I have started to find the brightness of these cymbals a little too bright. But don't get me wrong, I still love these bad boys do death! I wouldn't trade them for anything!! So because of that I also have in my set up now the Sabian Artisan Vault crash in 16" and 18". The dark, complex tones of those against the bright, somewhat simplistic tone the V-Crashes, is an absolute beautiful contrast. Also, now, because of these crashes, I become a complete Sabian devotee and the A Custom Series can't hold a flame to what Sabian has accomplished!! Bravo!

I spent an hour trying different cymbals and this one sounded far and above the best. Very glassy and just the right amount of volume. I toured for three weeks with this cymbal and had no complaints. Unfortunately it broke after about 25 shows. A large crack circled the bell and it broke away completely. I got a replacement with no trouble at all because I had fortunately purchased the protection plan. Unfortunately the second one cracked after only two and half songs. I decided to try something else and I was sad because this cymbal sounded amazing. I'm convinced that there may have been a manufacturing flaw in both those cymbals because I rarely break any cymbals ever. I do play hard but I haven't had trouble with other medium thin cymbals I won. If you are a lighter player, this cymbal is well worth the price. If you are a heavy hitter, it may not hold up.

Sabian 17

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I have had this cymbal for 3 years. This is by far the best cymbal I have ever owned or played. I just got a 1" rip in it and now I'm going to buy a pair of them. They produce a bright tone, but not too bright. They make the zilidjian A-custom sound like garbage. These cymbals basically flow with any music. I've played music from B.J. Thomas to Rise Against to Blink 182 to Chiodos and they just link to the music. A GREAT CYMBAL!

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I Just bought the 16" recently and was hoping to replace it with my old main crash. I have always been jumping between Sabian and Zildjian but i decided to get this. It's pretty good as an accent crash very loud but i don't like it as a main crash, for starters it has an extremely long decay which i didnt' want at all its also kind of darker than what i was expecting i was hoping for more of a bright sound. over all it's a great cymbal just not what i was looking for.

Best series of Crash Cymbals ever made

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I own both the 16" and 17" versions of the Crash cymbals. I find them to be the most versitile crashes I have ever played on. They are bright, yet not too bright, and they have a beautiful shimmering decay. They are a thinner cymbal, so I wouldn't recommend riding on them much, but they are wonderful accent crashes

great cymbal

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I own this cymbal (18 inch)and overall i am very pleased with it. IT has a great sound, the perfect mix between bright and warm. THe only problems i have with it are that it never opens all the way up, no matter how hard you hit it, it never explodes. From pp to f it sounds great but it has trouble with big crashes such as ff or fff. Also, it shows finger prints and hand marks like crazy, i'm always cleaning mine.

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I bought this about a year ago. Its still in great shape other than the smudges of finger prints. I love the sound of the silver in the cymbal. Very bright. Great shimmer. Best crash I've found yet.

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I purchased the Vault 18" Crash two months ago to replace an ok-sounding B8. I was going to get another AAXplosion Crash, but after trying the Vault I was sold. It's extremely sensitive, loud, glassy, and quick. It's far louder than my 16" AAXplosion Crash, and sounds better too.

This crash blew my expectations away, they cut threw most music and have great stick response, I love my vault crash. Great for an intermediate or even beyond that to have.

Great Overall Cymbal

By Great-9s.qv

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I own the 16 in. crash and it is incredibly versatile. It can cut through three distortion crazed guitarists with ease. Also this cymbal is great for soft music as it opens up to the lightest touch. Don't be worried about the thin build of this cymbal either, it is very durable. I only have one complaint, the cymbal sometimes makes a high pitched "ping" when it is choked. If you have the money I would recommend this cymbal to players of all genres.

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I have got to say, I love this cymbal. I got it when a store was closing, brand new, and it sounds great. I got the 20 inch so it's got a long sustain but it's got such a cut, it sounds like a smaller size. The cymbals got a bright, cutting sound and is just an amazing cymbal. I've only played it twice since I got it a week ago but I just love it already. Definately get this cymbal!

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I caved and finally got the Vault crash that was staring me in the face at the music store. The cymbal is wonderfully build. It has the lower fundamental tone, due to its larger diameter, when struck, but then the silver kicks in and it cuts quite well for the peak, and then it has this smooth wash the blends well with the rest of the kit and band. Great job Sabian!!

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I own a 16" version of this crash, and it explodes and dies very very quick. It sounds amazing. I borrowed my buddy's 18" Vault, and it has a slower decay. Now the two of those together. WOW!!!! If you are looking for a crash that is bright, dark and everything in between definately consider this crash. And they cut right through the music. Great Job Sabian!!!!!

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I have owned the 17 and 19 inch Sabian Vault crashes for almost a year now, and they're amazing. They were the best sounding cymbals in the entire store, beating Zildjian A Customs and Sabian Paragon Crashes, which I also was considering. They have a very bright sound, and do a wonderful job of filling up the air in my 3 piece rock band. I have used these in the studio 3 times, and the producers have always been amazed with the sound these cymbals produce. Do yourself a favor, and buy them!

I've Betrayed Zildjian

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I am a die-hard Zildjian man. But I have to admit when i went to the store to pick up some A Customs, I triied out the Vaults and they blew me away. The are so glassy and shimering. I love it. I may never go Sabian for Rides and Hihats and Chinas, but they have my vote for the best brilliant crash.

Sabian Vault 17

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

The choice came down to two cymbals the Sabian AAX 17" and the Vault 17." Not too far off each other in the price range however the Vault won the day with it's great sound and projection and cool sleek look. Well worth the money. I will be buying more of the Vault range in the future!

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I have been a die-hard Zildjian customer ever since I began playing drums. But the moment I played a 19" Sabian Vault Crash I knew that this was the next cymbal I would own. This crash produces a bright tone that comes on heavy and I've found that the durability of Sabian cymbals is amazing for hard hitters such as myself.

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I was looking for a crash that had a medium to long sustain, especially for cymbal rolls with mallets, the 18" Vault crash fit the bill perfectly! Can be played loud or soft, very versatile. Awesome, warm sound with some slight "wash" or undertone, very musical. Am considering buying the 20" as well.

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I was actually considering Paiste 2oo2's, but as soon as I heard these I changed my mind. Bright, shimmering, glassy, and long decay, exactly what I was looking for in a crash. I ended up leaving with a 16" and 19", and plan to pick up the 22" Artisan Medium ride later on. Definatly recommended, but like stated by others, it is VERY thin so I don't recommend it for hard hitters.

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

I used this as my main crash cymbal for a year or so, it sounds really great. super bright and clean. opens up so easily, even from just riding near the edge it begins to open up. it's also got a great range; sounds just right at low sensitive volumes and can get really really loud without choking or losing its beautiful sounds. it's also thicker than most crashes of this type that i've used?maybe not the smaller diameter vault crashes, but this one looks like it can take a little more heavy hitting, especially if you don't lay too hard into it.that being said, i currently use it as a bottom hi-hat with a well-cracked 18" zildjian K crash-ride on top.

Comments about Sabian Vault Crash:

Do not listen to what James Maynard Keenen has to say. He obviously does not know what a good cymbal sounds like. This crash is powerful, loud, and will fit ANY genre that you play. This is a must have. Zildjian fans... You better make the change to Sabian.
