Perfect for ambient styles, this crash offers bright tone and quick decay.

Designed for low-volume settings, the Sabian Xs20 dB Control Crashes is a bright, extra-thin model that is quick, quiet and get out of the way fast. Think fewer decibels, shorter sustain, and huge tone.

Comments about Sabian XS20 dB CONTROL Crash Cymbal:

Finally Sabian has done it! I have been begging for years for cymbal companies to make entry to mid-level crashes thinner so that they sound better and are not as harsh sounding. These cymbals are great! They are VERY responsive, and explode immediately when struck, and they also get out of the way just as quick. I would definitely say that these are "fast" crashes for sure. They have very small bells, which I am sure helps them decay so quickly. They have a very pleasing, semi-dark tone. If I wasn't looking at the label when playing them, I would say they were AA or AAX Fast Crashes, judging purely by sound quality. You could use these crashes in a wide variety of situations, especially when your normal crash cymbals are a bit too much. These will allow you to hit the cymbals with your normal motion and stick size, and get less overall volume and sustain. You could also get lower overall volume without having to "downsize" your cymbal sizes (you can still use an 18" in place of your normal 18" that might be too loud). They would be great for studio work or close miking situations. My only knock on them is that they may be a little too controlled and "fast" for some players. I prefer the 18" over the 16", although I own both sizes. The 16" is especially fast and may be too controlled for many players, but it's all personal preference. I like them a lot, but I would describe their sound as a thin crash with a few strips of tape on them. I wouldn't use them in a loud rock setting unmiked; they would simply get lost above the din. Of course, they are not designed for that. What they are designed for is controlling overall volume and sustain, and they do exactly what they are supposed to do. Again, don't let the XS 20 stamp impair your judgment; these sound like pro quality fast crashes with a very pleasing tone. Very reasonably priced, as well! If you are looking for good sounding crashes that you can use on lower volume and/or studio gigs, or if you feel your current crashes are a bit overpowering or harsh, these crashes are just the ticket.
