Of the Sabian XS20 line I have this ride and the 14' high hats, both of which have beautiful stick definition and sound awesome. The ride, though at times is hard to hear above the rest of what's going on (whether it's live or just set itself,) is very worth the money. The bell is distinct, very loud, and very clean. I even use the ride as my secondary crash cymbol, it's bold when crashed on but is perfect for the job.As far as durabilty, this cymbol isn't going anywhere. I've crashed so many times and the metal X really lives up to it's name. You'll have this cymbol for awhile. All things check out, ride/bell/crash/durabilty/value.. So go ahead and check yourself into some Sabian XS20's. I'm only 17 but I've had my share of cymbol experience and these by far exceed Zildjian's ZxT/ZbT lines.

i bought this cymbal as part of a set including the medium thin 16in crash and a pair of 14in Hi-Hats. all the cymbals sounded great except for this one. it has a lousy decay rate and i often times have to hand dampen it cause i can't stand the sound. as another reviewer mentioned the bell is also very small. i do not recommend this cymbal and think that for paying a few bucks more you can get a much better Zildjian cymbal or even something like the Sabian AA or AAX cymbals. any comments feel free to email me

The best ride/crash for the cash

Back in 2005, I used one of these as a crash in my post-hardcore band, It lasted me for 2 years until I wanted to trade it in for something a little brighter, as a crash the wash on this thing is just beautiful, very dynamic and the tone is great too, kinda dark, granted that you hit it with a glancing blow, like you should on any cymbal, unlike metal players that hit with direct attack, would end up destroying this cymbal, to suffice that bright sound. Overall, great cymbal for the money.

This cymbal has a good sound, but it is very washy. This ride was just what i was looking for, but you may want to try it out somewhere before you buy it.

I have this cymbal for over 2 years, I used as a Ride for some time but was't to please but I love the sound when I use this cymbal like a crach cymbal, I buy a XS 20 Rock ride and is much beter but I use this one as a crach still, is very loud and lots of sostain great crach.

good starter/ intermediate ride

For the money, this ride will do just fine, the bell is no good at all. If you are starting out drumming, and want a good first set, this ride will be just that. Doesnt do too well when recording, or playing live...

Very unique cymbal

By Thunder-nZqlE

I needed a ride cymbal. This was a good investment because the sabian B8 crash/ride cymbal bell did not cut through. The sabian XS 20 was exactly what I needed. This is a cymbal that provides a dark contrast with my bright sabian B8 crash ride or sabian B8 crash. It may be a ride but when hit with a swishing motion, I can get a good dark crash sound. The outside delivers a nice ting almost tah sound that is great at lower to medium volume music. Produces cool overtones. The bell delivers a good ping or ting sound which is good at almost any volume. Very nice.

Sabian XS20 Medium Ride

I've had this cymbal for about a year now and I love it. Being a hard hitter like myself, this cymbal holds up amazingly. The crash sound is very good, especially for hardcore/metal. When using this as an actual ride however, the overtones tend to overcome the ping of the ride. The bell is really good too. It has a nice crisp sound perfect for accents in fills, although it is a bit small for my liking. Overall, this is an amazing cymbal for those hard hitters and will work decently for everything else.

Pretty Good

By Anonymous

These cymbals are very good. They can hold up to the hard beating of a pep band tune or a hard rock song but they sound great and hold up to everything that you throw at them. These cymbals have a very small bell though. This makes it very hard to hit when your jammin away but when you hit it, it sounds good.
