Comments about Sabian Xs20 Rock Crash Cymbal, Brilliant:
I own both the 16 and 18 inch rock crashes. These cymbals are a great value. I compared these to their B8 counterparts and these cymbals destroyed the B8 cymbals. No unpleasant overtones like in the B8 cymbals. Sound almost like AA rock cymbals.
Comments about Sabian Xs20 Rock Crash Cymbal, Brilliant:
First I would like to say that I know it is possible to get a bad cymbal; there may have been a factory defect in the one I purchased. However, I purchased the 18", and it sounded HORRIBLE. I don't mean bad, or low grade, I mean absolutely horrible. I wouldn't even recommend this cymbal to a new drummer with no experience. The thing didn't even sound like a cymbal, it just sounded like a piece of metal, or perhaps a cymbal that was 4-5 times thicker than it should have been. There was no sustain, no tone, and nothing but a bad sound from it. However, it had a good bell and sounded great used as a ride, but as a crash, I would have to recommend a SBR crash over this one. I love Sabian and all the other cymbals I have tried, but when it came to this cymbal, all I can say is EPIC FAIL.
Comments about Sabian Xs20 Rock Crash Cymbal, Brilliant:
I purchased the 16" brilliant about 6 months ago and the 18" regular, because i needed a more durable cymbal (apparently i hit rather hard). They held up, until recently, when the 16" developed two small cracks from the edge of the cymbal in. HOWEVER, i do not blame the cymbal. I've cracked 3 of the 4 crash cymbals i've owned, (the 4th being the 18" Xs20) and i believe it is because of the way i hit them. Anyways, they hold up great for hard hitters, and sound great (especially outdoors). I would HIGHLY recommend them for heavier music.
