I love these cymbals ever sense I had them. I got them on April 30th, and they still sound as loud and awesome as they did when I got them. Hi-Hat isn't that good played open, but I deal!! Sounds great with Rush and Dream Theater music!!!
These are my second pair of cymbals. Great rock/metal cymbals I would say. Very loud and clear, good consistent tones. Does not have a good tone when played soft, hi hats not really intended to be played closed I found, as I play in a reggae band, but great cymbals for loud music.
these are great cymbals for people who play hard, they sound great and are incredibly durable.
I started playing the drums about 8 months ago and hated the cymbals that came with the kit. I decided to go out and see what I could get at a decent price. I compared the Zildjian ZHT and the XS20 pre-packs. I was drawn towards the ZHTs but I wasn't too sure about the quality difference between stamped sheet cymbals and hand-made cymbals such as the XS20s. I opted for the Sabians based on manufacturing processes although it was probably not quite what I wanted sonically. Of course, being new to drums didn't help because I didn't quite know what I was listening for. When I got the cymbals home and set them up, I hated them at first. There was a bit too much sustain on the ride, the "brightness" seemed a bit off. But after about two solid weeks of playing on them, they seemed to have "cooled" down into a nice sweet spot. While I am still not fully content with the ride, I will make do until my next round of cymbal buying. But for any beginner or intermediate drummer this cymbal set is well worth the money and should be considered the base cymbal package for a new drummer. For the price, sound and quality, Sabian has definitely trumped Zildjian in the area of low-mid range cymbal packages
I love these cymbals. The ride is my favorite part, it has a very strong ping sound and is great for rock and metal. I also love the hi-hats, they have a nice deep sound but not too deep. The crash wasnt my favorite, just a little too deep for me, but overall THESE CYMBALS ROCK!!!
very good deal for the price. these cymbals are extremely durable, & will hold up to very hard play. it's a perfect 1st set for getting started. the hi-hat is satisfactory, the crash is awesome, but the ride kinda sucks, it has a funky resonance to it that i personally dislike.
I got these about a year ago now and theyve lasted me a while and they work pretty good. If you dont have too much money or if your a beginner these are the ones to pick. Once you get better you can move up to Zildjian A customs or Z customs but these cymbals are great for beginners! Ive also heard alot of negative feedback but in my experience theyre great!
I just bought a set of these for my project studio set. I started out with a ziljian ZXT set and was disapointed because the crash & Ride sounded the same. With these, They all have distinct bright sound. I am looking forward to using them on some recordings. For the price...they have surprisingly good sound.
I bought a set of the XS series complete set-ups, with a budget in mind to go with my new Yamaha Rydeen Fusion kit (another excellent quality value). I went with the medium performance series instead of the Rock series for a lighter sound, a little more shimmery so to speak, although I am going to add an XS 16 rock crash into the mix as well.I must admit I was apprehensive at first because of the price, and to my surprise and delight.. They sound excellent! Great projection, a nice crisp sound from the hats splash and ride. The ride bell sounds nice and big. The crashes 16-18 are a bit lower tonally than the AA series but really nice sound as well. They also look sharp too! I hope they make more of these cymbals in various sizes and thickness (a thin series, and more effects cymbals would be nice :o) . After playing the new kit with the new cymbals, I recommend this pairing (Sabian XS cymbals & Yamaha Rydeen drums) for value, quality and sound . Keep on drummin!
-these are good, cymbals the crash is the best it is good and does best when played mid-hard. ride is ok to quite over all. the hi-hats are meant to be played closed not open. over all these are a great really great.
