What a great set of entry level congas. Very impressed. They sound awesome out of the box. Great warmth, tone and response. Easy to assemble the basket stands. The finish is lovely. I oiginally considered ordering the LP Aspires. Glad i changed my min, save some cash too

I have never owned drums before, but the price and the look of these drums convinced me to give them a try. It is early in my experience with these drums, but so far I can say that they are absolutely beautiful and sound great!

I've been playing drums, not professionally, for over 50 years. Started out with a little Rogers kit listening to and playing along with my parent's big band and vocalist records in the late 50's. OK. So that's just to establish some credibility. Just recently I decided I wanted a set of congas. I've had an LP Matador tumba for years, and it's a great drum. I didn't want to spend a lot of money 'cuz I'm not gonna play professionally (I don't think!) - though these drums could - and not even play out very much, so I found these online. I didn't really want the quinto, but for the price I figured I'd get two drums for the price of what one could easily cost.
I'm not disappointed. These congas are very good quality, not at all junk. Yes, they're surely not the best money can buy. So what? Do you need the best money can buy? If so, look elsewhere. If not, look seriously at this set.
The heads are buffalo (whatever that means), not cowhide as you'll find on costlier drums. Again, so what? They sound quite good, are responsive, have good tone, and resonate really nicely. At first the 11" conga didn't resonate well on the bass tone stroke in the middle of the head. It sounded flat instead of resonant. I removed the head, rubbed it a bit, turned it around in my hands a few times, and re-installed it, tightening it to a "C" pitch. Since doing this the drum resonates very well on the bass stroke. I guess it just needed to "breathe" a little, or something.
Anyway, if you want a good set of congas for a very reasonable price, add these to your list of considerations. Again, they are not a junk set.The hardware is good, the heads seem good, the body is very nice, AND, you even get stands for each drum! And these are not junk either. I've adjusted my stands by pushing the basket arms in a bit so as to raise the height of the drums to be more to my liking. (Even at the tallest setting they were a little too low for me). To cover my behind I went ahead and spent the extra 15 bucks for a 2 year replacement warranty. Anything goes wrong, MF will replace whatever it is for free. How cool is that?
I rarely write reviews, but this set of congas deserves to be touted: very good price (wait for one of MF's deals), very good quality for that price, I got free shipping by calling and talking to a rep, and fast shipping to boot. I had mine in 3 days. Enjoy!

I've been wanting to purchase a set of Congas for a while now. Lucky for me, I have my own recording studio and a client offered to buy me these for working on a project of his. Got them today. Easy to set up and a joy to play. Great projection. The finish is beautiful and the hardware seems very sturdy. Now, if I can only get as good as Sam Clayton of Little Feat....

I have owned a set of these for a few years now and I am still impressed with how nice they sound. I have changed the heads a few times, but they still sound as good as ever! I have the tobacco fade finish and it is beautiful. The high gloss finish will not dissapoint you. Nice tone, easily cuts through the mix (in fact, some times they - I - get a bit loud). They record very well using an SM57 placed between them at hand level.

I purchased this conga set for a side gig and to lay down a strong percussion tracks in the studio. I've used these congas and they really surprised me. I thought because of the price they may sound ok, or the wood would leave a ringing sound but I was completely wrong. The highs and lows are perfect. The wood is good quality and the hardware really makes it look good. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Bought these for occasional use at jam sessions. Wasn?t expecting them to be of such high quality considering the cost. They look and sound great. First-rate construction, basket stands are sturdy, finish is gorgeous; all-around outstanding value.
