      OVERVIEW

Resonant, deep sounds and scorching slaps from these traditional style djembes.

This professional-grade djembe is carved by hand from one solid piece of mahogany so the sound is huge-the whole body of the drum resonates as one unit since it is hollowed from a single tree. The heads are real goat skin, which is thinner than most heads so you can easily get the popping slap tones and the giant bass tones. The ropes are pre-stretched so once you set the tuning it will hold the tension (not many djembe drums have this professional detail).

      Sizing Shalloch large Djembe

      Comments about Schalloch Djembe:

This is a very nice product but be advised that the demensions listed are somewhat misleading. The measurements on the size state 10.5 to 12 inches wide. That represents the width of the drum measurement to the outside of the rings and not the playing surface. The large djembe in this ad had an actual playing surface of 10 inches. All measurements for African drums represented on the web, according to a supervisor I spoke with, are done this way.
