Amazing Quality, Unbelievable Price

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

I purchased a lovely blue fade set of these bongos 2 and a half years ago and have used them extensively on the road evefr since (approx 8 gigs a month average). I play them mostly with sticks- positioned above my hihat. So far they sound increadible- the thin heads sound MUCH better than thicker headed LP models, and have been surprisingly durable- I have yet to break a head! They have outstanding tuning range- low woody roto-tom type sound all the way up to AfroCuban high-pitch. I would buy them again!

great drum for the price

By maverill

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

This is a high quality instrument for the price and the sound is really good as well. I have played a LP Aspire set and I think this is as good if not better sounding. The finish is really excellent and the heads are good quality as well.I did tune it but it sounded ok for most people the way it came.

Sweet Bongos

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

I have had these bongos for a little over a year now. I play them with the small acoustic band i'm in at small open mics. They were my first purchased drums and i got them from a teacher at school who plays a lot of jazz and classical music. They have met all my expectations and i love them. They're very sturdy, sound great, are easy to tune, and look beautiful. If you want some great bongos for multiple playing styles and genres then look no further! I often play these holding them between my legs, but if you plan on doing this too know that they're solid and heavy so take that into consideration.

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

I recently started doing a weekly acoustic gig. We have acoustic guitar and I sing. We wanted to add some percussion, but I didn't want to spend a lot. Saw the price and reviews on these bongos and thought I'd give them a shot. I'm very glad I did. They arrived, look great, and sounded terrific straight out of the box. Did come with a tuning wrench, but I've not had to use it yet because I like the sound straight out of the box. I purchased the Pearl PB700 bongo stand to go with them. They mounted quickly and easily, and I'm extremly happy with my new purchase.

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

I'm a guitar player, but have played percussion through the years. I've had 2-3 sets of bongos at earlier times; the last pair being a set of maroon Matadors. Saw these on sale and decided to get myself a birthday present. What a great deal! They are not beginner bongos, more like basic intermediate. I thought the heads would be rough, but they are smooth, tune well and have a nice dry tone. Was able to play martillo in a week and I'm looking forward to learning more advanced rhythms. The box says made by Meinl, (both Meinl and Shalloch are German companies) so I suspect the are the same bongos as the more expensive Meinl ones, just from a lesser known company.
Don't hesitate, buy them an get playing!!!!

      Beatniks Be Proud!

      By Anonymous

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

Beatniks would be proud to own these bongos. I'm not a beatnik, but I'm digging these bongos. They have an excellent fit and finish (including inside the drums), they look fantastic - i have the sunburst ones - but most importantly, they sound great! Now, I'm not a Bongo expert by any means, but I have played drums for years and I know what a good wood drum sounds like. I bought these to use in my home recordings and they record very well. Much better than a Djembe I have. No need to EQ or anything after I record - they sound great just as is. I did retune them afer i received them. I just loosened both heads up completely, then hand tightened the screws until they were all flush and even. Then tightened each lug in clockwise order using the same amount of turn per lug until i got the heads to the tuning/pitch I liked. All in all, I am very pleased w/ this set of bongos!

      Amazing Bongos!!!

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

These are the best bongos I've ever played. The quality is exceptional, and whoever picks the buffalo skin heads does a great job.The construction is superior to the LP bongos I own (and I have two sets), and the sound, although not as loud, is superior to the LP bongos, due to a couple of factors: 1, real buffalo skin heads. 2, what seems to be more consistent tonal quality (easier to tune!).I should also mention the natural sunburst finish is just gorgeous. I polished mine up with some Eagle One car wax, and WOW!!! People actually come up to me and say "Those are gorgeous!". :)Now I just have to find a professional bongo stand that won't mar the finish on these (the Gibraltar stand I have put some ugly marks in the bar that joins my LP bongos due to poor quality construction). I will NOT subject these bongos to that abuse!!!

      Nice Bongos Great Price!

      By Pollito

Comments about Schalloch Wood Bongo Set:

Been wanting a pair of good bongos just to beat around on and get my six year old son into drumming cuz he likes to play the top of the inside metal trash can. Very happy with the quality for the price and they have a nice sound too them. I got the vintage sunburst finish and I think they look great and sound pretty decent too. Not as much attack and low end sound as the LP's but still a very good set just to have around to jam with. The high bongo has a REALLY good snap with a good sustain. Would highly recommend this set.

Great sound and solid over one year into owning it.
      Well done.
It isn't a $300 set, but the build and sound play very nice for the price.
