OVERVIEW

Delivers the volume you need.

The Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor is designed to project the best sound quality possible for your electronic drum set. There are even soft touch knobs that can be quickly and easily adjusted with a drum stick. This monitor is protected by a durable carpet covering and a ribbed handle permits easy transportation from gig to gig. The Simmons DA200S has the large sound field needed to play your drums under the best sound conditions for you and for your audience.

Got this for my Roland TS-6S V-Tour kit a few years ago and its still running solid. It is built like a tank and weighs about as much. The sound is loud and clear - no rattle, nominal hiss at highest volume (all knobs at 11) - which is to be expected from any amp. The subwoofer really does shake the house. I transitioned this over to my acoustic kit a while ago. My Yamaha kit is mic'd into a mixer with leads running out to this amp. I was going to get a dedicated sub for my kit then figured I try this before spending a lot on just a sub. It's perfect as it offers the widest frequency response for any amp in this category -- or frankly any amp even close to this price range. It sounds good as a small PA too - I have run vocals through this, as well as my bass guitar. Yeah, it's not advertised for such use, but in the end, it's an amp with speakers and it sounds amazing no matter what you pump through it.
Solid build - really really solid.
Great price for the quality and diversity offered in this unit.

I am using this as a drum amp for a set of electronic drums for practice. Nice sub-woofer for a good kick drum sound. I am also very pleased with the cymbal sound reproduction. However, there is a little tinny-ness to the other sounds. It has some nice features. Ability to adjust knobs with a drumstick is nice, and it's easy to add a music source for practice with a track or just having fun. It is VERY heavy, and the wedge shape makes it difficult to carry and move around. I have not used it as a monitor for stage performances, and I'm not sure I would. It certainly has enough volume to use in our practice/rehearsal room and be able to hold its own with other amplified instruments. I bought it as a SDOTD. I wouldn't recommend it at full price.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

the recepticale on the amp will have to be changed it is the only weak thing I see. I will go to Radio shack and get a good one and have it changed. For that reason I rated it a 3! Sound is A 5!

True hi-fi characteristics with an astonishing reserve of power. Solidly built, but consequently bulky and HEAVY (almost 60#). Definitely not for the subway gigger! Slap some wheel on and it's ready to serve.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Drums are tough to reproduce electronically due to the wide frequency and dynamic range, but this heavy (50+ lbs) amplifier does the trick nicely. The massive subwoofer provides the solid kick needed to replace a good acoustic bass drum, while the mid-range speakers and tweeters give snares and cymbals excellent clarity. With enough power to compete with an acoustic set, this amp will make sure you're heard until your band gets to the point that you're using the PA system anyways. Just be careful picking it up!

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

The amp seems to built of high quality, seems very heavy duty, Like the large rubber knobs with indentations to accommodate a drum stick when adjusting and is out of reach by hand. I thought the relatively large base speaker and multiple mid range and tweeter speakers along with EQ adjustments would produce a comparable or even better sound than my cheap headset. It doesn't. Maybe as I continue working with it at different volume and EQ levels the sound will improve. We'll see.

Arrived damaged during shipment, only a bent grill, which is surprising since the box was nearly destroyed. I'd rather fix it myself than return it for a replacement. Not Musician's Friend's fault.
