Just got it a month ago and was wanting to try it out with some different scenarios with my band before critiquing. I'm in a two piece electronic rock band with keys and drums and was wanting something to run my Roland drum pad through. We sometimes have bass and guitar sit ins, so after using it with every possible scenario I would ever play in, I decided its a nice solid amp for practice and small clubs or bars. The bass doesn't quite boom like I would want it to but with 50watts what are you going to do, right? Other than that the highs cut through well, though I do have to crank it to even out with the volume of other amped instruments. All in all its a solid amp that should last and its easy to transport. When you have the rest of the kit to deal with that could be crucial.

I bought the Simmons DA-50 to use with a Roland TD-4S. I was pleased with the sound quality and sufficient volume for practice. I also liked the auxiliary input and tone controls. However, I found the unit unusually susceptible to noise, specifically AM radio signal. Regardless of which cables I used or where i plugged it in, I could here radio signal easily. I took that unit back and tried another with the same results. I have five other amps in that same location that have no such problems. I took the second unit back and bought the Roland PM-10. I am happy with the PM-10, it sounds better and does not pick up noise.

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Mostly I use my drum set for exercise if you can imagine that. I have a digital set and a drum set produces good upper body movement and sweat so why not kill two birds at one time, playing drums and exercising? For my usage concert usage, sound quality and road 'tripping' aren't issues. But I do play sax and from what I know about this product is it's easy to use, easy to setup, decent sound, volume is good and the unit is solid as a rock. Sometimes it feels as heavy as a rock when I need to move it. I basically hook up a mp3 player and jam. That's all I do so I can't add much more to what's already written. There's no cons I'm aware of and the only issue I would have is the power switch being in the back of the unit. Not really a con as it's easy enough to get to.

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I have an older set of Roland TD5s and my 7 year old son loves to play on them. He signed up to play his schools talent show and needed something easy and small to play through. The show is held in the school's gym. This little monitor really came through and he sounded incredible. I'm blown away by how good the Simmons sounds. I normally play through a Peavey SP2G system with 800 watts and that's thunderous, but for what my son is doing, this could not be more perfect. Good price and fast shipping.

My son didn't like any of my bass or guitar amps sounds for his electric drums. Hated them all. He asked for the DA50 for Christmas and it is exceeding his expectations.

Bought the DA50 for my simmons kit. It has amazing depth and range, the bass really punches through.I wondered if 50 watts would be enough, but this thing has such good separation it seems like more. The quality and construction are outstanding! Functionality is an A+. This thing has done well by me. DEFINITELY the most bang for your buck!!!
