I needed an inexpensive kit to gig, leave at clubs and rehersal space. Looked over all the majors and decided on this set. I'm very happy with it. I changed the heads right out of the box, set up and tuned. This set sounds great. Plan on immediate head replacement. Hardware is average but pretty much free anyway. Still $400 is a great price for a shell pack that with a few tweaks sounds and plays great. The silver finish looks great under lights. This set really sparkles and is VERY forgiving. Doesn't show dings and scratches and if it gets hooked, I can live with the hit. Great job MF... Fastest delivery ever!!!
i recently bought this set because i wanted a set that would hold up for a few years til i can get some $. the cymbals that come with the set are absolutley horrible, but hey, sets dont come with zildjians or sabians. you have to muffle the bass drum and the snare drum, but after all of that, this drum set can sound just like a tama swingstar (played one before). this set only comes with a straight stand and a hi hat stand, but with a few booms and a few more straights, you could have this set lookin professional in no time. oh yeah, GREAT PRICE!
I have played the Sonor503 drum set at my friend's garage and I think that it's a nice instrument to play if you are a beginner drummer. It has a nice tone. it's firm and I think that if you try it you might know what i`m saying.
I've been a drummer since around 3 and grew up listening to Iron Maiden, pretty much the whole reason i play. I havent gotten these yet, but played on a friends set who had Sonor. And i've always wanted a set because Nicko Mcbrain from IM used them for like over 15 years on all there albums, so yep they get a good nod from me.:)
This set is great for people that have just started playing drums. I'm currently in a hard rock/metal bands and the toms need a lot of work but after you get them to sound right, no problem with them. If you are really looking for a great sound change the heads but after that, its all good.
I bought this set, becaseu i was getting back into drumming. I think this set is a good buy, the quality is great for the price. Only problem is, the toms have a slight ring to them, so I suggest changing the heads. Other than that. Great set....
This was definitely a good buy. The Sonor ball clamp if great for getting your toms set up fast and easy. The snare sounds great. The toms... these take a little work, but when tuned properly they sound as good as the Pearl Exports (I have one of those also). The bass drum is good. You will need to put a pillow or something inside it too muffle it but once you do that it sounds great. The cymbals it comes with are horrible, but any drum set you buy will come with very bad cymbals. If you really want some good cymbals pick up some Zildjian A Series, but if you're pressed for cash, get the Sabian B8's. If you are looking for a good reliable back-up set or a first set buy this.
I am just getting back into drumming and was looking for a versatile set that would last me a couple of years and could allow my son to start to appreciate how great drumming can be. The value for $ and feel / sound was un-matched. I really think that you get more bang for your buck (yes I realize the pun).
I bought this set after getting some money for Christmas. I already own a Pearl Export, but got this one to put in my guitarist's garage for practices. It is much better than I thought it would be. Once I switched the heads to Remo ebonies, it sounds awesome. The snare even sounded good right out of the box. Great set overall, Sonor, you rule.
This is a very good drum set besides that the snare looks like a tin can. The hardware is very durable and the drums overall sound great.
