This drum set, overall, is really good for any beginner or budget-minded drummer. It gets the job done. This would be more fitting for a practice kit rather than a gigging kit since the volume is not very high in comparison to maple and birch. As soon as you buy this drum set though, I would recommend changing the snare heads and snare wires as well as the bass batter. The tom heads are surprisingly good and have held up to my beating. Also, the snare itself should just be replaced. Those looking for a wide tuning range might have some difficulty here. Of course drum head selection is involved, the tuning range of the snare drum (6-ply basswood) is VERY limited. Toms are very good if tuned properly and the bass drum does ring quite a bit if unmuffled and using the stock batter, but nothing a new head can't fix.Overall, a good drum set for beginners or as a practice kit. Not something for the professional or gigging drummer though.

then this would be perfect. I only use the kick and a tom off this set, another drummer was giving away his old pieces so I took em. The kick with a stock head is awful, all the heads are actually so they were first to get replaced. It has a decent thud when muffled but I've never taken the pillow out and wouldn't after reading a few reviews. Volume wise, it's a perfect kit to practice with or play in small spaces, it doesnt have the punch to it like a maple kit would. I dont own the snare or floor tom, just the kick and a 12" tom but having played a full kit, I feel I can get a good basis for review. The snare is terrible, lots of ring and unwanted tones, just feels cheap. The floor tom isnt much better, might have been his heads, I don't play clear ones. Overall, you're getting what you pay for, cheap drums for a cheap price.

Comments about Sound Percussion 5-Piece Drum Shell Pack:

As you can tell I am only a student drummer and this is my first kit but it's a good little kit. if you switch out the heads with remo coated ambassador heads then it sounds pretty good. You'll need a new snare though because there's isn't super good. over all though a good starter kit.

    Best for beginners

Comments about Sound Percussion 5-Piece Drum Shell Pack:

I have had this set for over a year. I ran in to a lot of small problems like the tom mounting base cracked in two, but easily replaced. The heads are the worst I have ever herd, suggest replacing them. Overall great for those beginners and intermediate drummers

    good begginer set

Comments about Sound Percussion 5-Piece Drum Shell Pack:

This is a really good set if your a beginner and not sure if your going to drum for a long time. It sounds O.K. when you first get it. If you get a good coated drum head for the snare and new heads for the toms and bass it sound really good. The snare sounds kinda bad but if you get a new head, get some new snares, and tune it properly it sounds amazing. I recommend it highly.

    Nice starter set

Comments about Sound Percussion 5-Piece Drum Shell Pack:

This is the same type of kit that I have. I threw some socks inside the drums to deaden the sound a bit, and the kit sounds damn good. Buy one of these, and you'll love it. A good kit to by some add-ons for, like a good cymbal pack, and a set of roto's will do you fine.

    Great Kit For The Price

    By koko-oOlgG

Comments about Sound Percussion 5-Piece Drum Shell Pack:

I purchased this kit a little over a year ago. When I first bought them I had no idea like most that there where things not included. Becareful to read what you are buying. The shells themselves are great quality and the heads aren't bad. I would suggest if you want to get the best out of them put remo heads (especially for the snare) on and buy a zildjian or sabian cymbal pack. Remember you get what you pay for especially when it comes to drum quality.
