A really good set for the price. I played drums professionally years ago, and decided to get a low cost set just to bang around on at home, and do some recording in my studio. The hardware is very sturdy, throne seat well padded. The drum shells are a bit thin, and will require extra protection if you plan to move them often. The included heads are ok, but I suggest getting 'brand name' ones as soon as you can. The cymbals are where this set comes in with low marks - they are very thin, and sound just a little better than pie plates. However, because they are so thin, after you invest in better cymbals, these can be easily hammered into nice sounding china splashes! Overall, this is a very good set if you don't plan to subject them to the rigors of touring, and the price is right.

First off, I've been playing drums since 1966 (yea, I'm old). I purchased this set to use in the church praise band that I'm in because my vintage Slingerland (1968) set was not being treated with respect when moved on or off the stage when I was not present....
That said, because of the price point, I did not expect a real great sound. I was not disappointed. Very thin heads and who knows what the cymbals are made out of, will not produce a good sound. Investing a third of the cost of the set into good quality heads improved the sound 100%. I also substituted the cymbals with some of my older ones. I've since played a couple of Sundays as well as a couple of practice sessions now, and they serve my purpose very, very well.
Now to clarify my recommendation; if you are in a situation like I was and just need a "beater" set, or if you are a beginner, I say you can't go wrong with this outfit.

Comments about Sound Percussion Complete 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals & Hardware:

My son has been playing drums for several years, and uses an electronic set at church. We bought this set so he could practice at home. Overall hardware quality looks good, seems durable enough. Tuned the set using Cobus' techniques (see http://youtu.be/udooOap4m2c), and it sounds pretty good--certainly good enough for general practicing and gigging. The cymbals are obviously low-end, but good enough, and what I expected for the price. I'll let my son upgrade the cymbals & heads if/when he wants to.

Comments about Sound Percussion Complete 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals & Hardware:

I bought this for my grandson's 13 B-day present. I had my drummer set it up and he agreed it was a great starter kit. He also said that if better heads were placed on them he could use this beyond starter for a backup kit.

I luv this drum set. Well worth the $$$$I paid for it while on sale!! Thanx MF. HH stand defective, but, guy is replacing the part. I'm just luging this drum set to pieces. Play it everyday. Had it for 5 days now, and I'm already learning yellow by Coldplay.set comes with everything you need to learn to play the drums. Glad I finally, fulfilled my life long dream of playing drums. And, not just guitar.

Picked this setup due to price. Had my drummer friend come over and help me set them up and tune them. He and I really impressed by the quality of the shells and hardware at this price. However It took about 1 hour of hard playing to dent the crash and hi-hat. So you get really nice drums, but really bad cymbals. Be ready to replace the cymbals.

Great kit for the price! I've always wanted to learn how to play the drums, and this is a great starter set. My wife is even playing, and my 1 and 3 year old boys. Our teenage boys already know how to play, and they love it. The only downside is the cymbal, it's very soft, and is already beaten up. Fortunately, M.F. has some great cymbals for sale, and I'm picking up 3 new ones! Love the drumset, thank you, Musicians Friend!
