This is a very good drum set for the price and you might even say for any price...The shells and hardware are of good quality which shouldn't be a big surprise since Gibralter makes Sound Percussion Drum Sets for Musicians Friend and Guitar Center...I would highly recommend these drums to any player from novice to pro, they are that good...When purchasing this set, you will want to also buy new drum batter heads all around...The pedals are ok but you may want to upgrade those also...I replaced all the tom batter heads with Remo Emperor Coated along with the Snare Batter and I replaced the 2 Bass drum batters with Remo Clear Pinstripes...I rounded-out the set with Zildjian ZXT Rock Cymbals and I am quite impressed with it all as are others who think I spent a lot on my set from the way it looks and sounds ( I went with the Black)... A few other things to note about this set, all the hardware comes with Memory Locks for quick setup and teardown, and the Resonant heads are acceptable for use as is...You will also want a Drop-Clutch for the Hi-Hat...And as with any drum set, learn how to tune your drums properly..I spent around 5 hours tuning these because I am very picky about the sound that I want so don't rush the tuning process and then be disappointed in the outcome...I have played drums off and on for over 40 years and hope that this review helps those that are on the fence.
Good shell quality...Good hardware quality...Heads are typical low-end.
For the price, this is a very good value

Awesome

By david roof

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

Once again overall a great product, I liked that the set was complete. The only extras I needed to buy were the cymbals and a throne. I bought a Zildjen ZBT4 cymbal set and had Plenty of cymbal stands, even had an extra one to add a cowbell to the set. I was not thrilled with the snare which I have replaced, I play metal and it was a bit tinny sounding so I bought a Tama metalworks snare that I am much happier with. But great set for a beginner or for someone like me who is getting back into playing and wants a complete set.
I hadnt played or owned a set in about 20 years and decided I wanted to get back into playing again and this set was perfect to start up again. I have added a better snare to it but other then that it is a great set.
I have had no problems with the set at all.
Just cant beat it for the price, great value

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

Many see the price and think "this might be a crumby set" but it is far from that. Ive owned this set for years and have beaten it through many shows (loading and unloading in the van too) and it still sounds perfect. Its an unbeleiveable price with an unbeleiveable performance. Many have heard my bands cd and ask me if its a pearl or another higher priced set cause it sounds so great on our recording and when i tell them that its soundpercussion and they are all amazed. I recommend for intermediate to expert drummers. New heads should be added as the stock heads go out of tune alot and i play death/speed metal so i needed new pedals. the stock pedals would be good for most other styles though. It has all the right sizes one would need.
I do however recomend getting new heads and possibly pedals depending what style one would play.
The shells are tuff to take touring state shows in a packed van.

Fantastic Drumset

By cory jamnick

from Minnesota

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

Great drumset for a great price. Replace the drumheads (It'll be $60-$80 depending on the brand) and get new pedals (also can be quite spendy). I ended up taking my Sound Percussion double bass pedal from my old set and hooking it up to one of the bass drums, the other bass drum basically does nothing but look good and hold the 10" rack tom.

Summary: For anyone on the fence, do not hesitate. Buy this set now.
Includes everything you'll need except cymbals. More on the quality of said things later.
The quality of the drums and the hardware is very nice and sturdy. But the two pedals aren't even the same model, with one pedal being much better than the other. And the included drumheads aren't very good, and should probably be replaced.
Fantastic value. Nothing else to be said here.

You'll need new kick pedals and drum heads.

By Collin Jon

from USA, WI

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

Gorgeous kit, excellent hardware quality.

Just keep in mind that the two single pedals it comes with are really cheap, AND have different batter-heads. Also, the drum heads aren't the best, you'll probably wanna upgrade those.

Keep in mind that if you really do want a quality kit comparable to higher-end brands, you'll need:

Zildjian/Sabian/Paiste/Meinl cymbal package
Tama/Mapex/DW/PDP/Pearl/Gibraltar kick pedals
Remo / Evans drum heads

which means you're looking at an extra $400 - $600

That being said, whether you plan on upgrading this beast to make it more beastly, or keeping the pedals and the heads the way they are, it's worth it.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

This kit is absolutely awesome and can handle the abuse of any type of drumming. If u are a beginner i recommend either the sabian b8 cymbals or zildian zbt cymbals for a good deal
The set came with plenty of hardware which was strong and held up to abuse.
The stock tom heads are surprisingly good. i have had the set for a little over 2 years and have replaced the snare and bass heads. i have done some tweaking to make the toms sound better but besides that, they have been great
This kit is totally worth the money for a beginner or a veteran.

My Review on this kit.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

I personally like the shells and harware. I only dislike the two different beaters, and the heads that come with the kit. I recommend getting new heads.Get whatever heads you like. I got Remo Black Suede coated heads on all toms. Remo Powerstroke 3 coated bass drum heads, and a Emperor X snare head. I recommend new pedals too. I recommend that beginners should get this kit! Rock on people! \m/ \m/
This kit is awesome for begginers and some who have a slight drumming expierence! I've been playing drums for 2 months now. So please kids and new drummers, get this kit! \m/
The quality of the shells are good. The hardware is nice and strong. The drum heads, not really good.
This is a good price, for a brand that is not the best in the world!

Spend Your Money Somewhere Else

By Evan White

from Ohio

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

From the shipping to wear and tear, this kit does not stand up to the demands of touring. I have played this kit for several gigs and it just ended up falling apart. I had to replace both of the kick pedals and the springs have broke off of the pedals several times. The rack cymbal arm does not fit into the tom mount and after awhile the tom mount can fall off of the bass shells. For the bases themselves, as soon as I took the bass shells out and started tuning them up, the bass lugs broke in half. Overall a good buy if you're looking for a large, low-quality kit. However, it would be better to save up and extra hundred or so and buy a Tama or Mapex.
Has a lot of free, extra gear that is nice to have.
Nice that the set comes with an expanse of extra gear to basically take it out of the box and start playing, but there are a lot of malfunctions with the kit. The bass pedals bend, the bass lugs break and the tom mounts can fall off.
Low price for a low-quality kit.

Good kit

By matt hunt

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

The overall with the kit is that its a great deal i do recamend replacing the heads, beaters, and the weeker stand but other than that it is great.
The shells and most hardware are good and sound but the heads two diffrent beaters and one cymbal stand are not so good i switched the heads over and got new beaters and had to replace the stand because the other broke but i play metal so i am agressave playing
Have had the drum kit for over 3 years now and only had to replace the heads and beaters and a stand everything elce can hold up to just about annything
Great price for the kit much better or beginners because you get 8 piecec wear others tou normaly ger 5 and its not doubble bass
