Comments about Sound Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

I ordered this snare as a cheap alternate snare and for some of the Rockabilly styles I play. It came broken with evidence that it had been dropped or smashed making the snare a sort of egg shape and breaking the batter head (which I planned on replacing anyway) and a broken throw-off. I contacted MF customer service immediately and was helped by a young lady named Emily she was very helpful and as always, no hassle on the return. Thanks MF for making the poor musician's life a possibility and reducing stress with excellent customer service.

        Great Value

        By Chance Shirley

Comments about Sound Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

Overall excellent build quality. Much better than I expected. The stock heads can sound good if it is tuned correctly. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a good loud snare that won't break the bank.

Great little snare - Good starter/backup

        By Chris Luensman

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Sound Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

I purchased this snare strictly as a backup snare to see how much value I could get out of this investment. The statements on here are pretty true that the provided batter head sounds pretty bad. I just threw on a Remo coated ambasador and the thing really pops. With the right tuning and a new head this snare feels and sounds good enough for the occasional gig'ing drummer. I haven't played it long enough to know about longevity but it passed the first gig with flying colors. Lower rating goes to the quality because a new head is pretty much necessary to make this sound right.

        good

Comments about Sound Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

its pretty good, but I think you should save up a little more to get a better snare, but this isnt bad at all. I dont recommend this but I do recommend you get a better snare if you want another one. Pearl VX, Pork Pie Snares, and other stuff like that is better.

        okay, but .........

        By mustangds-prqcp

Comments about Sound Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

Well, with a head change (hd batter and hazy reso) the drum doesn't sound too bad. Changed out the original snares for some puresound 20 strand blasters and improved a bit. (med-tight and moongel to kill the ring. WOuld tune tighter for more pop, but i'm not sure about the durability of these lugs/rods) The problem: the throw-off. Forget about using this for a tom-tom sound. I could never get the strainer adjusted to allow a clean switch from tom to snare. I'll keep it around for a side/effects snare, but the throw-off issue prevents it from being even close to a primary. Cheap drum cheap price. You may have a niche for it, or maybe not.

        Don't cheap out...

Comments about Sound Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

At the price it's really tempting to buy however I found the bearing edges to be very poor and the hardware to be cheap. Acoustically it sound like crud even with good Evans heads installed but I didn't mind as I use this as a kick on my e-drums.Those saying it sounds good probably don't know much about drums and tuning...

Comments about Sound Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

I got this black Piccolo snare with my sabian b8 thin crash and it rattled a lot at first, but i had to make a couple adjustments to it and after that it sounded great. Its exactly what i intended it to be. It goes perfect with the type of music i play. i would strongly recommend this to anybody that is a drummer. Its a good snare for an amazingly awesome price. BUY IT!!!!
