Comments about Sound Percussion Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

Very good value for the price. Would recommend changing the heads. Be careful tightening the lugs. I had one break on one of the base drums but was able to find a replacement locally. All of the stands(cymbals, toms, snare, high hat etc.)are very sturdy and rugged. Highly recommend for the beginner and part time musician.

This kit is awsome. I bought this kit because of the number of toms and figured id give it a try. Received it very quick and put it all together. Tuned very easy I used aquarian heads all around and sounds great. My friends who play cant believe what a nice kit this is for the price. Very very pleased...

Superb Kit for the Money, Perfect for Souping Up

Comments about Sound Percussion Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

I was looking for a cheap kit to start me out as a novice drummer, and Sound Percussion seemed to be the way to go for me, because I was on a budget. I thought eventually, I would have to sell my SP kit and get a Tama or Pearl to replace it. What happened is I found that with a little souping up, I could get my kit to sound just as good as the name brand sets. I started out with a 5 pc, and upgraded to an 8 pc recently. With the right cymbals and drumheads, this kit has major potential.
There are several places to better the kit, especially in the bass drum heads. I replaced the hollow sounding stock heads with Aquarian Super Kick 1 drumheads, which give the bass that "punchy" tone ideal for heavy music. I'm also planning to replace the tom heads with Aquarian Performance 2 heads. One lesson I learned is that heads (not shells) make all the differnece in sound and quality. I am a fan of Aquarian heads, as you can tell. As for the cymbals, I hooked myself up with Meinl HCS, which is Meinl's bottom line, suprisingly having the sound quality comparable to Zildjans and Sabians. For hardware (particularly pedals), I've had luck with Gibraltar.
If you are a musician on a budget like me, I highly recommend Sound Percussion's double bass kit. As I have said before, with the right drumheads, cymbals, and hardware, it is as good as a name brand kit. It sounds like I have invested twice what I have in this set!
What you Need SP DrumsAquarian Drum HeadsGood CymbalsGibraltar Pedals
Sound Percussion did not dissapoint on features:
-One thing that really stood out was the chrome hoops and lugs. Paired with black, it makes for a very "classic" look.
-Hardware is very sturdy, able to hold fairly heavy cymbals
-Each head has 8 tuning pegs, so it is easy to tune exactly as you want it, accurately
-Everything about the set is versatile and highly adjustable
-The set is pretty easy to assemble and is more portable than a lot of other sets
              Definitely could use some improvement:
-The stock tom heads are either dead sounding are too resonant for the most part, but not terrible
-Bass drum booms more than it thuds
              - Pedals seem a little awkward
-Snare sounds good overall, but is loud and can be obnoxious when practicing with fellow band members
              -Felt beaters are slightly inergonomic
-Overall, drumset is durable and sturdy
Sound Percussion by far makes the cheapest double bass kit on the market, well worth the investment (Or you could pay a few thousand more for a name brand kit). Unbeatable bang for your buck.

Comments about Sound Percussion Pro 8-piece Double Bass Drum Set:

GET THIS KIT NOW!!!! Why are you even waiting? this kit is super!
The toms sound phenominal. much better than Jeff's, Jon's, or Brady's. And 5 toms are way better for fills/ tom beats than 3.
They were incredibly generous with cymbal stands (7 including hi-hats) and bass pedals (3).
One of those thingies that fastens the bass drum heads to the shell snapped in half when I was putting it together for the first time. But I've been playing with this kit for over a year and I haven't even needed to replace the heads, every peice of this kit is terrific.
              This thing is SOLID.
              Should cost a lot more.
