After being in the market for a new snare to replace the stock one that came with my Gretsch Blackhawk 5-piece (pretty good beginner kit, by the way), I settled upon this snare after about a year of search. When it came in, I tuned it up a bit with just the stock heads, and CRACK! This thing is seriously loud. The cracking sound it provides is full-sounding despite those two large vents in the front (no, they actually don't kill the sound of the drum) and concludes with a beautiful chord-like and high but short resonance. I still have the stock heads on and am thoroughly satisfied with the purchase. Buy it! It's not often that you can get one of 'dem Spaun quality snares for just[$] bucks. The only problem I had with this snare that I must point out was when I first went to tune it up. The lugs seemed to squeak a bit more than any other drum I'd previously ever tuned, almost to the point of being annoying. I don't know if this was just the one I received, but hey. The sound afterwards was definitely worth it.

Great Sounding and Looking snare. Have a great volume and a great attack. I change the snare wires because they was making to much buzz, but it was okay. I changed the head for and control sound (Remo) and all i can say is that this snare is ready and perfect for any musical situation. If you want something different, ridiculous sounding, great looking and at affordable price; buy this snare you wont regret!

I purchased mine awhile ago and I must say this snare drum is intense! I play alot of genres of rock and jazz and I seem to do lots of rimshots. I slapped on a remo emperor x and people would BEG to borrow this drum. It sounds better than any snare I've EVER heard. It has the nicest crack and projection ever I am in shock at how good this snare isBUY IT!

Well first it looks way better in person and for the sound it is so loud and beautiful nice pop to it and i know i sound dumb when i say this but it sounds like a snare should sound... if you like a low crack dont get this but if you like a good high crack GET THIS NOW :D

I've owned this snare for over 9 months now. I've played many shows with it and practice on it regularly. I used it when my band recorded and it sounds amazing in the recordings! It has a LOUD but tight crack. I have an Evans head on it. Great snare for an affordable price.

I just received Spaun's acrylic coke bottle snare today; I switched the batter head to an Evans Power Center Reverse Dot (save the original for a spare). This snare has great sensitivity and a nice sweet spot. What an attacking crack sound! You can see the Spaun quality instantly, the shell is well-formed and the rims and lugs are precision-made. You may want to tune it higher if you want less sustain, mid-tuning produces more resonance so you won't have to hit it so hard. This drum has plenty of volume and attack at all tunings, so don't be dissuaded by the 13" size. Spaun makes high end drums and you'll quickly discover this when you play this snare. Rudiments and accents are easily played on this drum. I can't wait to hear it live with our band.

I first played one of the Spaun Acrylic Vented Snares at a guitar center in Jackson, MS and I was taken with it immediately.I ordered the next week.It is one of the best sounding snares I've ever heard, and for the price, you can't beat it! It has the ring that you want,and it doesn't last forever, it decays fast. I just love it.

When I first hit this snare, its just like, "WOW", a beautiful clean focused crack! It sounds like a snare like Travis Barker would use.This is a outstanding drum for a killer price!Seem like you would be paying $1000+ for it. BUT IT! You wont regret it.

-Just got the drum today. As advertised. VERY loud!-Looks are AWESOME! (better than photo)-The crack of the snare is sharp and resounding. -Does very well with a rim shot that hits the snare head along with the rim. -Does not appear to be the best choice for rim shots when the stick is placed across the drum head and strikes the rim. (still o.k. though) -Overall quality is top notch. -Comes with an Evans head, that, after cranking down a bit, is decent. -Plan to replace with a Ludwig silver dot to amplify the crack of the snare even more. -Not really a drum for delicate snare work.-Could use a small amount of dampening to reduce the overtones of the drum.-Probably not the best drum if it is your only snare and you play a wide variety of music.-If you play want to play loud, this is your drum. -If you want a distinct sound to your kit, this is your drum.
