I ordered these cymbals because i recently purchased a mapex mars shell pack and cymbals/stands for it with the exception of hi hats. Due to my lack of money, i decided i would buy a cheap pair for now and practice on them until i could afford a better pair. now for the review:the hi hats sound really bad if you hold your foot down on the pedal too hard (i constantly apply lots of pressure so this is a problem for me) but if you can manage to only apply light pressure on them they sound decent. when they are played open or hit and opened they sound decent too but not too amazing.the crash sounds absolutely horrible and immediately cuts out if you aren't a hard hitter. However, if you hit it hard it sounds pretty good.the price is the only thing that makes these cymbals worth considering. If you are looking for quality, rule these out. If you are buying your first pair of cymbals and do NOT plan on gigging or recording with them then they are worth considering though.

I got these cymbals with my set I got for my birthday. Sounded ok in the beginning, but after a while my crash cymbal started to develop a nasty aftersound. Mine luckily have not bent too much in the half year i've had them, and I play every day for 2-3 hours. And I do not have a "soft" cymbal hit, since I play Rush, Genesis, Dream Theater, etc. The hi-hats sound really good if you loosen the lugs holding the hi-hats in a little. They have a nice "crisp" sound if you do that. However, I will probably have to replace them in another half a year or less.

    Absolutely Ridiculous

    read above^
I got these with a stag kit that i purchased. I used them for less than a month, and they were already extremely dented. I've had them for a year now, and the crash has a massive crack in it, and i need to replace it. The high hats are terrible, and are bad to the point that i can use them for crashes.

    better off as scrap.

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

These cymbals are absolutely terrible. I got them with a drumset i ordered. At first they sounded ok (granted the only others i had to compare them to was the sabian solar cymbals) but after about 4 or 5 good hits they were horribly dented and sounded terrible. These cymbals are not worth buying at all, infact they are worth more as scrap metal than as musical instruments.

    Bad, even for a beginner

    By BonhamFTW

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

I bought my first kit, and these cymbals came with it. It was my first time drumming and even then I could tell how bad they are. The Crash cracked in about 2 months, and the hi hats caved in. Before they broke though, they still sounded awful. I recommend a pair a Sabian B8's. They'll give much better sound and quality.

    Would not recommend buying these

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

I'm glad I didn't buy these (they came with my new PDP set). I only just began drumming myself, but I've been in bands long enough to know about what good cymbals should sound and hold-up like. Like many other reviewers said, both the hi-hats and the crash/ride bend and dent really easily, and they're obviously not on par with entry-level Sabian or Zildjian cymbals sound-wise. Go with Sabian B8s instead of this... they're much better and not a whole lot more expensive.

    Too soft

    By zdjxfkcghj

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

Basically what the other reviews said, they both bend and dent way too easily and the hi-hats cave in.. And even before they cave in they get so bent that they don't match up evenly making it impossible to get a closed hi-hat sound. The crash is usable but it only sustains for about 2 seconds, and the hi-hats lasted about 2 weeks before they started to cave in. These came with my drums so I'll still use the crash until I get more money, but there's no reason to buy this set

    Glad I didnt buy these

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

These came with the PDP drum set that I purchased. The crash/ride sounded pretty decent and it still does, but the stick marks and dents are terrible after only a month. The high-hats have more of a clang than a crisp sound to them. They both bend very badly and I dont hit that hard on them. Save your money and buy a little more expensive brand, it will be worth it when you have to replace it later.

    Ok for a little bit.

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

I thought these cymbals sounded great at first, but my crash did not even last a month before it got very dented. The hi-hat set lasted a little longer, but not long enough for me to fully enjoy them.

    Dont even bother

    By anonymous-1Fxgm

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

This pack came with the pulse drum set that i recently bought. The hi-hats are "decent" if you want to say that.... but the crash is HORRIBLE. I practiced for about 3 hours and the crash is bent like crazy and looks like it got tossed in a giant blender. Cheap but still way overpriced for the quality.

Comments about Stagg Brass Starter Cymbal Set:

I bought these a month ago just to get started playing and replace them once I could save up the money. But they didn't even last long enough for me to save up for new ones. The Hi Hat has bent inside out and every time i flip it back it pops back within 10 minutes. The Crash cymbal is completely dinged up and bent down on the edges, and i am in no way a hard hitter.
