Comments about Stagg DH Dual-Hammered Exo Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

This is a great crash. If you like a full bodied, semi-dark, but bright, not to long of a sustained crash then get this. If you like short attack get a 16" or under. I wish i would have gotten a 17" because its just a bit to short for me. Great cymbal though. Way worth the money

    Excellent Sound for the Price

    By ShereKhan

    from Vancouver, BC

Comments about Stagg DH Dual-Hammered Exo Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

Excellent so far. See above. Will update if cracks appear.
I got a 14" and an 18", and they compliment each other well. However I don't know how to rate the "features" of cymbals.
These really are beautifully crafted cymbals. The hammering is distinct, and I personally like the rougher metal that the bells are composed of. Gives it a bit of an exotic look, if that makes sense. They sound awesome. My 14" is fast, bright, and even, if a little quiet. That also may just be in contrast to the 18", which is boomy and low, but almost aggressively so. It's loud, but not in the super-annoying-piercing-cymbal way. It sounds a little bit like your nicer dark crashes of the Zildjian, Paiste, Sabian, etc. persuasion. Overall, the 14" and 18" compliment each other well in terms of volume and dynamics. If you play steadier, less proggy stuff, a 16" and 17" or 16" and 18" combo would probably be a better combo.
The value is, obviously, unquestionable...So far. I fully intend to update this review when/if (ooh I hope "if"!) the cymbals crack or break. I don't play like a gorilla, and my stuff is in good condition. That said, I know what using cheaper cymbals is like and even with my less-aggressive playing style my Wuhan cymbals still crack too quickly. I've accepted that this is just a symptom of using cymbals from a manufacturer whose production process is less quality and consistency oriented. Don't get me wrong, it's what makes those cymbals sound so trashy and awesome, but it just doesn't work when you need a good crash sound. These Stagg cymbals I have hope for; they seem very well machined and with any luck they'll last me a long time.

Bottom line: cymbals that sound as good as any of the Big Brands for half (or less, depending on where you live) the price.

Music to my ears ( and everyone else's).

    By tmont007

Comments about Stagg DH Dual-Hammered Exo Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

I am in love with these babies. Not only are they stunning to look at, but they sound like a dream come true to me. I love all of my cymbals, from Sabian to Zildjian, Mienl to Saluda. I have stacks of the damn things and they all have a place in my musical world.
That being said, I have found my new favorites in Stagg exo's. It's hard to explain, but I'll try.
They have a wonderful shimmer, and in my opinion, perfect tone and decay. They do not overtake the rest of the sounds you create on a drumset. They also don't cause everyone you might be playing music with to grimmace and add volume to their instruments until everyone's ears bleed. They are not as loud as most other cymbals. To me, well, that's what I have been looking for forever. Just the right volume, attack, and decay. It's a hell of a good "feel". I said I can't describe it, and it's hard. But smack one of these with a kick of the bass drum or a snare rimshot and you will know what I mean. I have had that feeling millions of times with other cymbals, but not like this. It just feels, and sounds perfect to me.
Nice, hand hammered, physically beautiful cymbals.
I rate 8 because I don't bash cymbals like a gorilla so I don't know how durable they are. Some people are heavy handed, they might know this.
For the price of student line cymbals you get this!

    My Mind is Blown!

    By Barjack

    from Portland, Ore

Comments about Stagg DH Dual-Hammered Exo Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

I rarely give 5 stars on things, as there's always room for improvement. In Stagg's case, they've already made that improvement in 2009 when they upgraded their Chinese cymbal tooling facilities and began churning out SWEET cymbals under the SH and DH labels. I own 17" and 18" DH Exo Medium Thin crashes and they're amazing. There are NO Chinese-sounding or trashy undertones, they sound like A Customs with high pitched, brilliant, and shimmering crashes. The finish is smooth and professional, the model logos are cleanly stamped, the raw bell gives is a Turkish look and produces a great tone when hit. I buy cymbals that sound great to my ear, regardless of price and own many Istanbul, HHX, and other higher dollar items. The Stagg DH line is sonically good enough to mix in with any of my $200+ cymbals and looks equally pricey. If you're a gigging or recording musician, you're going to be blown away by these on stage or in studio. If you're a student or just getting started, these cymbals will make you rush home every day to play your drums for the price of B8 or brass junk. Seriously.
