I got a smoking deal on the 17" crash. Been playing since 1972 and have top line equipment. Wasn't sure how this would fit with my 18" MT Zildjian and 16" Paper Thin Zildjian crashes. Played it at a recent gig and I was stunned by the sound of this cymbal. The attack is immense, and the decay "shimmers". The bell sound was perfect for when I played Badfinger's - No Matter What. Kinda makes me wonder what the 21" DH Ride sounds like......

Excellent so far. See above. Will update if cracks appear.
I got a 14" and an 18", and they compliment each other well. However I don't know how to rate the "features" of cymbals.
These really are beautifully crafted cymbals. The hammering is distinct, and I personally like the rougher metal that the bells are composed of. Gives it a bit of an exotic look, if that makes sense. They sound awesome. My 14" is fast, bright, and even, if a little quiet. That also may just be in contrast to the 18", which is boomy and low, but almost aggressively so. It's loud, but not in the super-annoying-piercing-cymbal way. It sounds a little bit like your nicer dark crashes of the Zildjian, Paiste, Sabian, etc. persuasion. Overall, the 14" and 18" compliment each other well in terms of volume and dynamics. If you play steadier, less proggy stuff, a 16" and 17" or 16" and 18" combo would probably be a better combo.
The value is, obviously, unquestionable...So far. I fully intend to update this review when/if (ooh I hope "if"!) the cymbals crack or break. I don't play like a gorilla, and my stuff is in good condition. That said, I know what using cheaper cymbals is like and even with my less-aggressive playing style my Wuhan cymbals still crack too quickly. I've accepted that this is just a symptom of using cymbals from a manufacturer whose production process is less quality and consistency oriented. Don't get me wrong, it's what makes those cymbals sound so trashy and awesome, but it just doesn't work when you need a good crash sound. These Stagg cymbals I have hope for; they seem very well machined and with any luck they'll last me a long time.

Bottom line: cymbals that sound as good as any of the Big Brands for half (or less, depending on where you live) the price.

I am not the fastest or most knowledgeable drummer but I have a good ear. I have some of all the big names and I put my 17 med. thin crash on top. you cannot beat this cymbal for the money.

Comments about Stagg DH Dual-Hammered Exo Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal sits price wise in-between a starter cymbal and a Pro line, and that's exactly what it is, an in-between cymbal. That's actually what I was looking for so it fit the bill. At first listen I was impressed, nice loud attack, very usable bell. However when listening while someone else played it's weakness became apparent. It still has that somewhat nasty wash of a low end cymbal after a decent attack. Still for the price I'd use these in a rehearsal / practice setting any day. For live performance, maybe in a Youth band or the like. Recording, no. We'll see how they hold up, this may be a good stand-in for our "good" cymbals in rehearsals.

Comments about Stagg DH Dual-Hammered Exo Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

Between myself and my son sharing a set, I go through crashes fairly quickly. I decided to try this cymbal based on reviews here. Do not be fooled by the inexpensive price point. I started with the 18 medium thin crash and it sounds fantastic. I'll update this review if it the cymbal cracks in less than a year. :)

I didn't really have high expectations for this cymbal but I was wrong. It looks great out of the box and sounds awesome also. Comparable to my Zildjian A custom crash for half the cost. Will definitely be buying Stagg again in the near future.

I have had this crash for at least three months now and I have to say i'm impressed with how it has held up. It worried me whenever I examined the edge of it to find there were imperfections in the lathing that would make cracking a lot easier but, it's still roaring. Note to buyers that stagg cybmals run a bit thin so I would get the DH medium or rock if youre a heavy hitter. I sort of am a heavy hitter so I will update the review and note how long it has lasted.

Comments about Stagg DH Dual-Hammered Exo Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

This has become my favorite crash cymbal. It opens up great but retains a lot of musicality. Play it soft, and it will whisper sweet notes. Bash it, and it will explode with an explosive crash sound. The overall sound is darker and a tad bit more shy compared to the DH Medium crash but still provides enough "umph" for rock and metal. I have used this at a few shows. One of the drummers for a band that we have opened for asked about it and was amazed by it's sonic qualities. He just so happens to be endorsed by Sabian.

This is a great crash. If you like a full bodied, semi-dark, but bright, not to long of a sustained crash then get this. If you like short attack get a 16" or under. I wish i would have gotten a 17" because its just a bit to short for me. Great cymbal though. Way worth the money
