OVERVIEW

A series of snares paying tribute to the product lines that built Tama.

During an era of fuzz-laden grunge in the 1990s, Tama ushered in a new revolution of backbeat resonance. The Starclassic G-Maple Snare changed the drum game and triggered a mass migration of top players to the Tama artist roster. This reissued Japanese-made Starclassic snare features a 13-ply, 11mm maple shell for warm, luscious tone and a full attack. An exotic outer ply adds to an on-stage sparkle.

Available in limited quantities, this snare is offered in a 14 x 6-1/2" or 14" x 8". Also includes a hard case and a certificate of authenticity.

Comments about Tama 40th Anniversary Limited Starclassic G-Maple Snare Drum:

I bought this used (it was made over seven years ago) and it is by far the best snare I have ever heard, and that includes every recording as well as every snare I've actually played. I have tuned it in every range and it does them all perfectly. I have played it in multiple venues, large and small, and I have never experienced any problems. I have even put mostly broken heads on it and it still sounds amazing. With an Evans ST Dry and Hazy 300 as well as Puresound Blaster wires, this snare is totally unbeatable. I would recommend this to literally any drummer. Tama has some extremely quality craftsmen.

Comments about Tama 40th Anniversary Limited Starclassic G-Maple Snare Drum:

I have 2 of these (earlier versions) and cant see selling them. I also have 2 Pearl Reference 20 ply. My other "top 3" snare drum is a Timeless Timber Edge which had no overtones. All of these are great snare drums. This is the least expensive of the three and therefore the best value. I have had several solid shell snare drums but like this 13-ply better.

Comments about Tama 40th Anniversary Limited Starclassic G-Maple Snare Drum:

This is the best snare I have ever heard, played, and had the privilege to own. I purchased the Midnight type and the craftsmanship is top notch. I sat and just stared at the finish for about an hour. The inlay and hand-painted badge are fantastic. This snare is made at the legendary Hoshino factory in Japan. For Tama purists, this is huge. I love the wooden vent hoops as well. I can not find one thing wrong with this snare. works well in all tunings.
