Did a lot of research on the 13x7's. Everything from DW's (I have the collectors) to the Pork Pies, Yamahas, Gretch's. Overall, reviews were great for this snare. Comes with great heads and nice hardware. Drum has a nice tuning range (based on your heads). Produces a nice bright, high tone when cranked. Also gives a nice lower tone when lugs are loosened. Great tone high and mid. Batter arrived off-center, so start your tuning finger tight and center it. Slight overtones and ring, but expected with the single ply Power Center Reverse Dot. Comes with nice little dampener ring and quality carry bag. Quality Tone, high-gloss lacquer finish and hardware. Nice value for the money. Competitor price was matched nicely.
I got this snare drum a few months ago and it is really, really nice. I am still trying to tune it just right, i'm not an expert tuner, but it sounds great and I can get a lot of different sounds out of it. I own the 6.5x14 model, and it is just great, loud, powerful, explosive, and it comes with some cool stuff like good heads and a good carrying bag
I just got this snare, and I am more than happy with it!! Im in a band, and EVERYONE loved the sound! I cant wait to play our next show with this snare! And by the way, this thing is BEAUTIFUL!!
awesome snare all around! My brother bought me this snare around 4 yrs ago and i fell in love with it. I play at different churches and i never leave without it!. Different styles in different places and it sounds awesome in every placelove it!!
I have been using mediocre snares my entire life, and decided it was time to finally spring for a nice snare. I did tons of research and played on many snare drums before I came to a decision on getting one of these. I got the 6.5 x 14" Titanium Burst snare and it definitely is a BEAUT! I got it tuned up right away and boy was I amazed! It has a very nice attack, and lovely rim shots! I've received so many compliments on this snare's sound and look at the different gigs that I've played at, and I definitely will never look back at the choice of this snare. I am 100% happy with my decision, and would recommend it to anyone!(I'm even getting a custom kit made with the same black hardware because it is soooo beautiful!)
I bought this in a 13" x 6.5" size for my set and man was it worth it. It sounds great, has solid construction, looks great, and is great. PERIOD.Tama has never disappointed me in the past and still hasn't to this day.For the price, I don't think there's a better snare drum to be had.
Just purchased an Artwood Custum 14x6.5 Super Maple and I am definitely pleased with it. At first I wasn't sure about the tone so I decided to throw on a Remo Coated CS batter over an Ambassador Snare Hazy. I also swapped out the stock snare wires,(StarClassic)for a Puresound Custom 20 strand and let me tell ya, this snare came alive! If your in the market for a 6.5 inch maple snare then definitely consider this one!
Well I just recently bought this snare yesterday, and it is by far one of the best snares I have heard! I have been doing research on them, buy going to drum shops and places that caryy musical equiptment. I was almost going to buy a black panther, but I choose this one instead because to me it sounded better. all I had to do was tune it a little bit. its an awesome combo with the maple and the bag.i got the 6.5 x 14" titanium burst, and I just fell in love. I really enjoy this snare drum!
I decided to take a chance on buying this drum without playing it after reading all the 5 star reviews and checking out the Tama website. I played Tama Superstars way back in the 80's and was always pleased, but have not played Tamas since. I have many DW snares as well as others, but I have to say my 13 x 6.5 little beauty kicks some serious patuti! Nice maple shell with great edges, killer crack and very, very sensitive. It took me about 5 minutes to tune it up out of the box and get it sounding fantastic. Definitely an amazing deal for the money. I already played one "unplugged" gig and got lots of compliments on the sound. It kept up with the rest of my DW set easily. Buy it, you will not be disappointed!
I am a student at the Los Angeles Music Academy: College of Music, and I'm studying many styles. (Rock, Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazillian, etc) and I needed a snare drum that could keep up with my work ethic/gig/sound requirements. This drum does all of that. It is a wonderful addition to any drumset. I didn't care much for the Stock heads, so I put on an Aquarian Modern Vintage Batter Head, and an Aquarian Classic Clear resonant head. Absolutely beautiful sound, thick, full, wonderful maple tone.
Amazing snare, straight out of the box. I got the 14X4 a few years ago and it has the most amazing crack to it, the rim shots will blow your mind. Great value too, considering the improvement a good snare can make on any kit, its worth every penny. Buy it.
This is by far, the most perfect sounding snare drum I've ever used. I'll most likely never use another. It has a great blend of warmth, crispness, and ambience(it actually sounds deeper than a 5.5" snare). It cuts through without needing to be mic'd. The diddles and ghost notes literally play themselves whether you're using matched or traditional. Highly recommended.
I recently purchased the 6.5/14 Titanium Burst model. It's an absolute "work of art" to look at and a pleasure to play. I replaced the stock head w/an Aquarian Hi-Energy, and it sounds phenominal! A nice warm, though fairly bright tone which is plenty "fat", when tuned down. When cranked up,you get a powerful, crisp attack. No matter what genre of music you play, this snare will be sure to please. Excellent product, excellent price.....you Can't go wrong. Kudos to Tama!!!
For the price, you really can not get a better snare than this thing here. I have had this snare for more than a year after owning and using a Ludwig Aluminum snare for 8 years, and the tonality of this drum is terrific. When you really need some pop, it delivers; when you need something with good definition and sensitivity, this thing is great. No question, a high quality all-maple drum with everything you need.
It was one of the most responsive drums I've ever heard. Great sound, great features, worth it. There are other snare drums that are cheaper that can have just as interesting a sound. . . .
I was at my local guitar store with my Mom to buy a birthday present for me. I was going to split the price and get a Zildjian Avedis Ride & crash but i didn't foind a crash i liked so i sat down and played on their drumsets. I started playing and the snare was just amazing, I loved it right-away.I will never change my snare until I get a DW Collector's series snare.
I got this one in 14x6.5, super maple finish. The quality of the maple wood is stunning. Black panther? Nah. Get this one. Amazing tone, fat, very warm tone. Same maple shell as the starclassic maple. The only difference are the hardwares. The hoops, i think, is not 2,3mm. But overall, this is an amazing snare for the price. GET THIS ONE..
I bought my TAMA ARTWOOD SUNBURST MAPLE 14X6.5 snare a year and a half ago.Well ... what can I say ...I previously played on TAMA SUPERSTAR BIRCH 14X5.5 snare. When I bought Artwood, I realized that this is exactly what I need.Very warm, loud sound(but not pop),excellent high and low tones in one.In combination with EVANS HD DRY on the batter and EVANS HAZY 300 on resonant side - snare sounds amazing!Recommend for all the drummers, who like wood sound and tone.
I got the 13x7.5 and it offers a deep, explosive sound with a huge bite! Buy this snare! It will rock your world!!!!
I have owned this snare drum for 5 months and I love it. It has great stick response, and it is really snappy. This is by far the best snare drum tama makes!!
