Comments about Tama Black Nickel Steel Snare:

Me again. Forgot to mention this in the previous review and it could be v-e-r-y important to some buyers. Description is incorrect regarding the finish. It is a beautiful black chrome/nickel finish with chrome hardware.

Comments about Tama Black Nickel Steel Snare:

This is a great snare. High quality and excellent sound at any of a Wide range of the tunings...and for really c-h-e-a-p! But the hoops are 2mm, not 2.3mm so not nearly that rigid. The finish inside and out give it more of a brass shell ring instead of that expected of a steel shell....nice! I'm using an Evans Reverse Dot Coated snare head. Good luck finding a better deal if this isn't good enough.

Comments about Tama Black Nickel Steel Snare:

I got this snare about 2 weeks ago and i didnt know how to tune it. i started with a low fat tune, it sounded perfect. then i cranked it up and it is a loud and cracky beast that is one the best steel snares and it works for all kinds of music. the overtones are not bad because the inside is coated in a darker finish. i do reccomend a dampening ring(that comes with it) to get a straight forward pop instead of a pangy st. anger sounding snare

Worth The Money

Comments about Tama Black Nickel Steel Snare:

If your looking for a deep piccolo sound for a cheap price this is the snare. I would recommend not using the stock Tama head and replacing it with a coated remo emperor. If you like the sound of the Joey 1 snare- tighten both the top and bottom head almost fully then put a piece of electrical tape (about 3 inches in length)on each side of your snares. Sounds great.
