The Cobra Clutch is a completely instrument based on an entirely different concept than the drop clutch or auxiliary hi-hats. Instead of activating the hi-hats with the hands and simply letting the top hi-hat drop on the bottom hi-hat, the Cobra Clutch activates the hi-hats the way they should be: with the feet and with control. Plus the Cobra Clutch has something else a drop clutch doesn't: You can set how closed or open you want the hi-hats. It took Tama's designers two years to perfect the Cobra Clutch. I have not been a drummer for a long time, but the fact that I play mostly hard rock and metal, and play a lot of double bass, it didnt take long before I realized how important a drop clutch was, but I rerally hate to have to whack them with my stick to get them to drop down, and then your hats sound really rattly because the top one is just laying on top with no pressure on it. This is the best invention i could have imagined to remedy both of the things I hate about a standard drop clutch, being able to adjust the pressure on the hi hat pedal is great. I cant reccomend this highly enough, if you can afford it (and its not really that much), buy it! I dont really know how well it works on other brands of hardware because I have Iron Cobra double bass pedal and hihat stand, but I have heard other people have had problems if you have Pearl or Ludwig hardware, but I dont really know.

Without a doubt the most amazing piece of hardware I have purchased. Being in a metal band I do a lot of stuff with double bass and was always in the market for a better drop clutch until I met eyes with this magnificent structure. I always hated having to hit the clutch with my stick to close while on double bass or having to keep my heel on my hat pedal while rolling...but this ended all my troubles and sorrows.

This clutch does work great, but I did have a few problems with it:1. This clutch will only work well with an Iron Cobra hi-hat stand. I tried using it with my Pearl Eliminator hi-hat stand, but it would not fit well next to it, so it was harder to set up.2. The rod that holds the connector is a little short. I had to bring the connector to the very top of the rod, and it just barely grabbed onto my hi-hat stand.3. It is hard to get the hi-hats to close fully. Even though it is adjustable, if you want the hi-hats completely closed, you will need to fiddle around making adjustments for quite a while.Overall, this is a good clutch, but only if you have Iron Cobra hardware. If you do have Iron Cobra hardware, I would definitely buy it. If not, you'll just wind up having to return it like me.

For years I was dreaming and hoping that someone would design this concept and finally someone has. It is an awesome piece of hardware that lets you be more creative in your hi hat playing. I still use the drop clutch in conjunction with this piece and have all the options available to me. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

I went down to my local drum shop and tried this thingand it is amazing I have a pearl drop clutch and am gonna replace it with this in no time also if you have a double bass kit you can fold up your hi hat stand and place it next to a pedal cos this can support it, you can also choose how much tension is applied when you pressanyone who has a traditional drop clutch should scrap it and buy this

As a drummer that uses both double bass and and Hi-Hat pedals equally... this apparatus is clutch! Pun intended...Now I can be playing a funky hi-hat pattern and then with a flick of the heel I can lower(not drop) my top hat to a preset tension while rolling through a tasty fill, and fly into pure double bass fury without missing a beat to slap the drop clutch with my stick. Ya its 6 times as much as a decent drop clutch, and its one more thing to pack up and haul around, but it looks sweet with my Iron Cobra double kick and hi-hat pedals, and the three of them work together even better than they look.
