I have had 5 of these great stands and after 6 years I am still using 3 of then and they have never failed on me. I have used them for just about anything, from a simple boom stand for a crash, ride, or tom stand, to taking it apart and beating people with it.. no the other 2 did not break our tour van caught fire and they happen to be in there . you will have no problem with the stand. there a little over priced but thats because you wont have to buy another one for many years to come...

I've used Tama hardware forever it seems. Back in the day of Imperialstar Series, the Titan Series and now Roadpro series. Along the way I've also used Gibralter, Ludwig & DW. It seems that many drummers equate the weight of the stand with durability & quality. Yes, I know it's true that lighter stands will not support drums & cymbals properly. Especially if you are a heavy hitter as I've been accused. But, more important is the quality of materials matched to work together and used in the proper context (i.e. A single braced or flat-based stand usually won't meet the requirements of most rockers. Remember the sway of Ringo's kit. That won't cut it anymore!). Of note, a heavy stand must also have nylon joints that can support the tubing. Roadpro is a great blend of properly sized/weighted tubing and strong nylon joints. While memory-locks can be helpful, I've found that many designs rely on the memory-lock to make up for poor nylon at the joints that won't grip the tubing. The Roadpro line is a perfect blend of all the components. The fact is Roadpro stands are simple and replacement parts are readily available (though I've yet to have to replace any part). I'm a working musician and probably break down, and setup my kit more then most (no less then 4 times a week). The situations I play in require not only great function of my gear, but it must always look good on stage (studio, lounge and main casino stages). Roadpro has never failed me! I mount not only cymbals but toms and various percussion items off my Roadpro stands. Always hold solid and have proven to be VERY durable. I highly recommend these stands to all drummers. Thanks again Tama. You've kept me rockin' for years!

As a touring musician, i need something that can stand up to constant beatings. I bought seven of these stands and wasnt that impressed. no memory locks, so my tech would always shortin the hieght by 2-3". the wide spred legs look like it holds well, but looks are deciving. Sorry but i think dw makes the best stand, but if your new to the touring game and think theses are a good stand, dont waste your money, personally, i would have rather wasted my funds on pdp 900s stands then these

A Nice Medium Weight Stand

The HC73BWN is a nice medium weight stand. It is not nearly as heavy as previous Tama hardware lines, but it is as heavy duty as Tama gets. The DW and Gibraltar 9000 series are both considerable heavier, but they are a little more expensive too. For local garage band work these stands ought to get the job done. These stands do have issues at the joints and this is mainly due to the legacy configuration of bolt tension without additional memory lock devices. I would not put large or heavy cymbals on these stands as they will develop wobble over time. If you are doing a lot of heavy gigging you might think about the Gibraltar 9000's which are in a whole different class. For the local clubs and a couple of gigs a month this stand will probably be a fine toy for the money.

This is the most solid stand I have ever encountered. I have used both pearl and gibralter stands but this holds up better than the rest. Slap a 22 inch ride on one and crash on it and the stand wont move at all. Tama makes perfection yet again
