OVERVIEW

Uses the same offset cam design as the Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide pedal.

The HP30 Single Bass Drum Pedal's power cam offers increased power and speed as the beater reaches the end of the stroke. The beater angle can be easily adjusted, a feature that is usually found only on more expensive bass drum pedals. The DS30 beater offers two different sounds: by rotating the beater head, you can choose felt for a softer controlled sound, or plastic for a louder and punchier sound.

You won't find adjustable beater/footboard angles on most bass drum pedals in this price range. Tama's HP30 pedals come standard with an angle adjustment system linked to the footboard angle. So you can easily recall your favorite angle setting.

Inspired by Iron Cobra's "Spring Tight" feature, a specially-shaped nut on the HP30 pedal prevents the spring unit from loosening.

I bought this pedal for my high school drumset because the last one was starting to look decrepit. We have at least 10 people who use the drumset in different ways. I haven't heard a single negative view of this pedal. It is a cheap pedal but when people find out I bought it FOR the school without reimbursment they think I'm crazy. Most people who play it feel like they are playing more along the lines of a $100 pedal. Great deal for the price and I actually use this one at the school instead of bringing my DW 9000 not because this pedal is better by any means but for the stuff we play I just don't NEED to bring it anymore. All in all a great pedal and a great purchase for any beginner (or school for that matter).
Great features i was able to get everything down to what I need in my pedal. Great adjusters and I love the tension springs that come with it. The beater that comes with it doesn't have a very sharp sound however.
Great pedal for the price. Still going strong and can still adjust to my needs a year later.

I had review this pedal on a first impression, but MF pinged me to write a (n other) review, so here it is. The pedal works fine, but is very flimsy. It is not a professional grade pedal. It could be OK for a beginner, but if it is someone who plays seriously he or she will be replacing it soon. If you need a pedal to use only on occasion, and it won't see steady use, this'll work. I ended up returning it. MF's CI is the best.

      OK for light playing

Comments about Tama HP30 Single Bass Drum Pedal:

I got this for playing with a jazz ensemble on a Ludwig Breakbeats kit. So far, so good but this is not a professional grade pedal. The main frame is aluminum that has been polished, but not sealed so it is covered in white powder (oxidization). The casting is very rough, and the tensioning nuts are plastic. The whole pedal is very light, and I don't think it would stand up to hard playing. On the plus side, the pedal board is standard IC shape and feel, and the cam is a roughly cast version of the Power Glide. The pedal actually feels very nice to play, and for jazz in small venues it will be fine. The pedal is very light and that will cut down on gear weight. We'll see how it holds up, but if you're new to drums (newbies tend to be a little - uh - vigorous), are playing metal, classic rock, or any venue that requires hard kicking, best look for something heavier duty.

I have been playing for 13 years and my foot speed has gotten faster over the years. I used this pedal in a school concert, and I couldn't be happier. It kept up with me, and I didn't have to push harder to play faster. 5 stars for the win.

I bought an Alesis DM10studio for my daughter who is interested in drums. The kit did not come with a pedal so this one fit the bill. Construction seems good and solid. I cannot see how this pedal would go bad in the near future. Im not a drummer so i cannot tell what else to look for. It plays smooth and the drum teacher has not mentioned anything negative.

Even though I am primarily a Sax player and vocalist, I have filled in for overworked drummers since the 1960's, this petal should work out just fine.

                    Too Slow

Comments about Tama HP30 Single Bass Drum Pedal:

This pedal came with my set and I have recently decided to upgrade (to a p900). I would not recommend buying this pedal because of it's lack of speed. This pedal is very slow to respond. It is however sturdy and a good choice for beginners, although it would be a smarter choice to buy a slightly more expensive pedal (such as a pearl p900) right from the start. The price of the p900 is only slightly more that this pedal but the p900 blows this pedal out of the water. It's not worth buying this pedal as you will shortly want to upgrade anyways.
