Like others, I noticed how the bolts kept coming loose and making the chair wobbly. I just kept tightening them and went on. It never occurred to me that the bolts were actually stretching until one broke and sent me crashing to the floor. Close examination of the bolt revealed that it had actually stretches into and finally broke in half. The4 other bolt was badly bent also. I replaced both bolts and have not had any further problems. But that only been a couple months ago. I've had the throne app 4-5 yrs with no other problems. its relatively comfortable and the backrest adjusts nicely to make you sit up straight and not slump over as I often do w/o a back rest. One note about the bolts is that Tama has a bulletin on their website about the bad bolts. They know about the problem. It makes me wonder why there was no warning sent out to owners of the product. When I fell I took out a bifold door behind me and was sore for several days. My 50 something 250 lb frame doesn't bounce as well as it once did. What would have happened if I had been on stage with a riser of 2-3 feet or more. Or worse still, a balcony or the top of a stairway. You know they put us drummers anywhere they think we can fit (-:. Tama has a potential liability suit on their hands and I'm surprised they didn't take it more serious. Thus my lower rating for poor customer relations

If you're thinking of buying it, try to sit on it in the store first. I'm not sure why this throne has recieved so many good reviews. I bought into all the online reviews and was excited to get it but was dissapointed the longer I played in it. Everything about the design of the throne is nice except for the seat itself - which is half, if not more, of the reason for buying. The seat material is pretty stiff and the cusioning is way more firm than other reviews have mentioned. I'm not sure cushiony is the right word at all for this seat. It also positions you to lean a little too far forward and unless I sit pretty far forward the shape of the saddle hits underneath my legs exactly where I don't want it to. Some of this should be kind of obvious from the pics but again I bought into the reviews. The hardware is nice and sturdy and it folds perfect for road use but damn ...that seat.I guess it's a preference. The other drummer in our practice studio has a just a plain round Pork Pie throne with the thick cushioning which suprisingly feels great. I'll probabaly buy that instead or maybe go with roc-n-soc so I can get gas lift for the Benjis I'm spending.

A little heavy, but worth it

Comments about Tama HT741 Ergo-Rider Throne with Backrest:

I have the 3-legged low-rider saddle seat model with backrest. Been lots of talk about the bolts coming loose and breaking, but when I bought mine, Tama immediately sent me the replacement bolt package, which I installed. I have had no problems whatever with it in over 5 years of heavy use and gigging. Just make sure all the lower adjustments are nice and snug, THEN put the seat on and tighten it down. I like mine a tad loose so it flows with me when I'm reaching for the farthest part of my kit, but even tightened down it did not move or wobble. It IS heavy, but the level of comfort it provides during long gigs is definitely worth it. Backrest is fully adjustable for height AND for angling back and forth and is very easy to adjust even "on the fly". This is the only throne I will ever use.

        Great Guitar Stool

        By Leslie Egan

Comments about Tama HT741 Ergo-Rider Throne with Backrest:

I am on the heavy side (to say the least) and needed a sturdy, wide and comfortable seat for my hours of guitar practice. I have found this throne to fit the bill perfectly except I really need for it to be a bit shorter. Being a female I tend to pack it on in the rear and the seat is ample. The backrest adjustments are a dream and I would recommend this to anyone needing a place to sit and play.

the first few months i owned it the seat starts loosening on its own, even when im not rocking out. i tighten the NEW wing nut(the old one broke within the first year of owning) all the time. the comfort is great, and its tall enough for me, but that dang seat will just not stop wobbling around. its so wobbly sometimes i think it will break. I would not buy this item!

This throne is awesome! The only thing is you have to make sure that all the bolts are tight otherwise you will have problems. I dont own the throne with the back rest, but im sure it's just more comfortable.

Best Throne I Have Ever Owned

Comments about Tama HT741 Ergo-Rider Throne with Backrest:

I have had this throne for 3 yrs. now. All I can say is.... Fantastic. No problems to report. I own the three leg version. Its been thrown into the back of my pickup with no case to protect it. It has held up with no replacement parts. By far the best purchase ever made. The back rest is totally adjustable. Fits right in my lower spine. Buy this throne.

I have had drum thrones since 1963 and this is clearly the best one I have ever had. Its a whole new world with a double bass set up and you are solidly in place. Highly recommend.

        Quality ?

Comments about Tama HT741 Ergo-Rider Throne with Backrest:

I thought I would be satisfied with this drum throne, but I would have to say I?m sourly disappointed in it. You can?t keep the seat tight for nothing. It doesn?t matter how tight you can get it, it will come lose and wobble. This by fare a big waste of money, who has the time to stop and tighten it up during a show? Save your money on this one, I have had it for 2 years, geees it sucks!
