my mom bought me this kit for my birthday and i love it. i play alot of metal/rock so i got a tama speed cobra double bass pedal. The stock heads are horrible so i got evans ec2 and ec resos and it made the toms so amazing. the stock cymbals are horrible so i got some sabian hhx/aax cymbals and i love it.

this is a pretty good set once you fix it up a little bit, the stock heads sound terrible as with just about any kit, but once i put some evans ec2s on the toms and an emad on the kick it was good to go. once i changed out the heads this kit started booming, esp the floor toms... also the cymbals arent that great but what do you expect for entry level equipment? the hi-hat isn't too bad and the ride is actually pretty decent but the crash needs to go... no complaints about any of the hardware everything seems to be sturdy, not really sure about the kick pedal since i never used it (mapex raptor direct drive db pedal) but everything else works just fine.. overall a pretty good deal if you need a complete kit in the near future, if not maybe go a step up if you can

Overall I'm very happy with the drums and hardware considering the reasonable price. These drums are very loud and I've done a lot of tuning and dampening because I like a tight thump vs. reverberation. What to expect: You will have to do some assembly, at least one head on each drum, and both on the kick. Make sure you study up on how to tune heads properly. The entry level cymbals were not good enough for me, and I purchased Zildjan A Customs instead, even though the Hi-Hats, and ride were serviceable, the crashes sound terrible. Even though the kick pedal is usable I preferred my Pearl , so I swapped them out.
Hardware is very stout, no problems with any of the hardware or throne. Depending on what sound you want you might like these right out of the box. If you want a punchy deep thud, then plan on buying some Remo Mufl's and putting a port in the front head of your kick.
All and all I'm very happy with the finish (Black) and the drum set.
