Comments about Tama Metalworks Limited Edition Steel Snare:

I didn't see any reviews of this product, so I thought I'd share my experience. The snare is very well made, which I expected for a drum of this price. The Heads that come with it are Tama branded Evans heads; the top being an Evans 360 Black Chrome batter and the underside being an Evans 360 Reso. Very easy to tune. Lugs are very nice. It's a bit heavy, but I'm used to playing with a 14x5 steel snare. It feels very bulky and like it could take a beating and as if it would last you quite awhile. The red lacquer is very nice, and the other parts are a very nice shiny gunmetal gray color. I bought the red snare to match the rest of my kit, and it was really the best looking in the bunch. All in all, a great snare. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a well made, heavy duty snare.

Comments about Tama Metalworks Limited Edition Steel Snare:

I bought this because after extensive research on the best shell material for getting volume that can cut through the mix of loud music, it's been said that a steel shell is the way to go. I've always been a fan of Tama hardware and decided to give this snare a try since it was so modestly priced compared to others. It does not disappoint! I play in a rock band so I was looking for something that could cut through the mix of my cymbals and loud distorted guitars. This thing is LOUD and it has a great tone. If you're not into that pinging overtone that steel snares usually have (not a fan myself) then just put some damper pads on the head and you're set! BONUS: it came with Evans heads and I actually really like them a lot. I don't think I'm even going to replace them right away. In sum, this snare is well worth the price. I highly recommend it.
