Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

I currently own a Mapex Meridian Maple kit with a maple snare and I wanted to try a metal snare. I typically prefer wooden snares over metal snares but I thought that I would give it a shot and I'm glad that I did. I'm such a huge fan of TAMA and now I remember why I love them. This snare is just beyond awesome!!!!!! I love this snare so much that I am going to trade in my Mapex kit and get another beloved TAMA kit. Do yourself a favor and get one of these snares!!! I got the 5 1/2 x 14 and it rocks!!!!!!
This snare is just incredible!
One of the best sounding snares for this price. Just incredible!

Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

I've owned the 6.5x13 snare for about year and a half and it continues to amaze me. I still have the factory heads and snare wires on it and it's sounding killer! This snare sound better than my other 4 snares in the studio and it cuts through live performances. Best value around!!!

Great Looking/Sounding Snare!

Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

I own the 14" by 6.5", and it's a monster! It has some HUGE crack to it, but it's also sensitive. I replaced the stock snare wires with a 42-strand Gibraltar one, so it's even more ringy. You'll have to use some moongel if you don't like the ring. Overall, 4.5/5. Awesome! I'll be keeping this snare for a long time.

AWESOME!!

Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

I got the size with a 12 inch head, and this snare is awesome if you adjust it right. I have a drumdial tuner, and I love a snare with a pop that makes you blink or flinch every time you hit it. so on the drumdial tuner, I like to tune the head up to 90. the only part of this snare I didnt like, is the snares, the snares are held on with some kind of cloth. And that broke within a month of having this snare. But this flaw is easily replaced. heck, if your a real cheapo like me, you could replace the cloth with blue jean material.... but yea, I am also considering getting this snare in the biggest size, for more of a deeper sound.

Great Snare, Great Price

Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

This is a beautiful snare for a beautiful price. I first saw and heard this snare at a local store in Minneapolis, Mn. I was looking fo a new one cause the one I had sucked. It's awful. Anyways, I was looking at some really nice ones, and some really cheap ones, and didn't really find anything except for the DW little squealer. It was the best sounding one in my price range there, except for the Tama metal works. The guy working there showed it to me and I liked it. I wasnt 100% sold on it yet, but it was a good option. At the store, it was a little more expensive, then I looked here, and was blown away by the price! Are you kidding?! That made a huge difference! It was then that I decided to buy it. Got it a couple days ago and tuned it up. It sounds amazing with some love put into it! it doesn't take long to tune, but I have mine cranked pretty tight, and it could go tighter! I love the tone and pop it has. If I were to try to explain the tone it has a more "poc" sound to it. Not so much a "ping" or "pop" but a "poc". you just have to say it to understand, but thats how I would describe it. but anyways, a great overall snare, awesome value!

Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

just taking a shot in the dark on a new snare,I grabbed this one in the 6.5/14..and yes I agree with all of the above...it actually makes me even wonder more about the even higher quality snares because of the improvement over the Rockstar sound...definately a more noticable crack when you hit it,and louder,I added the diecast hoops to both sides and have had fun messing around with different tuning, the price is so reachable that it`s one you should try if you`re pondering...that`s all,I`ve gotta go beat on it now..............

Great sound & quality...worth it!

Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

I've played many snare drums: Tama's G-Maple, Starclassic Maple, Bubinga, brass, a couple Warlords as well as others like Pacific, Ludwig, Pearl, etc....most of which are great snare drums. The Metalworks is among those that are great, and it's loud!! I'm sure it's not the loudest snare drum out there, but it's definitely one of the loudest I've ever played. I don't want to tell you that this is the greatest snare drum for the money? mainly because there are too many great snare drums to just own one...at least in my opinion. The Metalworks is definitely an great snare drum to have in your arsenal though...and it?s inexpensive. Now whether your a drummer on a budget or not, if your looking for a steel snare, than this my recommendation. At least consider it, I'm certainly glad I did. I changed the batter hoop to a Tama die-cast because I wanted the snare to be more aggressive, and I left the original flanged hoop on the bottom resonant side. The drum sounded good with the original flanged hoops. It had open bright highs, great rimshot, very responsive, etc, etc. However, the die-cast made an impression...it's louder & "cuts". It has focused "attack", a strong "crack", killer rimshot, and still has the sharp overtones most would want from steel snare drum. Now...I've been just talking about the 5.5 x 14...yeah. I'm curious about 6.5 x 14...the volume...wow! The Metalworks looks impressive with the black shell & hardware, and it has all the quality you would expect from Tama...it's well worth the money.

Comments about Tama Metalworks Snare Drum:

So I'm going to start off with the pricing on this bad boy...it's so affordable! I had only $300 to spend and the biggest size of this model is only $220?! I was super psyched about that. That left me a little wiggle room to buy a back up snare head just for precautions.Sound time. This is only the second snare I've ever owned (first metal snare) but goddamn...I love the sound of this thing! I have it all cranked up super tight, snares, heads, everything! The amount of crack on it is just what I wanted. the only downside is something that is unavoidable: the overtones/ringing was unbearable, but a moongel was all I needed to get rid of the problem. It's also loud! Like really loud!Over all, it's a great snare 5/5 on everything. If you want a great sounding metal snare then this is what you should buy
