One of the best sounding snares for this price. Just incredible!

Overall:

I currently own a Mapex Meridian Maple kit with a maple snare and I wanted to try a metal snare. I typically prefer wooden snares over metal snares but I thought that I would give it a shot and I'm glad that I did. I'm such a huge fan of TAMA and now I remember why I love them. This snare is just beyond awesome!!!!!! I love this snare so much that I am going to trade in my Mapex kit and get another beloved TAMA kit. Do yourself a favor and get one of these snares!!! I got the 5 1/2 x 14 and it rocks!!!!!!

This is a beautiful snare for a beautiful price. I first saw and heard this snare at a local store in Minneapolis, Mn.  I was looking fo a new one cause the one I had sucked.  It's awful.  Anyways, I was looking at some really nice ones, and some really cheap ones, and didn't really find anything except for the DW little squealer.  It was the best sounding one in my price range there, except for the Tama metal works.  The guy working there showed it to me and I liked it.  I wasnt 100% sold on it yet, but it was a good option.  At the store, it was a little more expensive, then I looked here, and was blown away by the price!  Are you kidding?!  That made a huge difference!  It was then that I decided to buy it.  Got it a couple days ago and tuned it up.  It sounds amazing with some love put into it!  it doesn't take long to tune, but I have mine cranked pretty tight, and it could go tighter!  I love the tone and pop it has.  If I were to try to explain the tone it has a more "poc" sound to it.  Not so much a "ping" or "pop" but a "poc". you just have to say it to understand, but thats how I would describe it. but anyways, a great overall snare, awesome value!

I've owned the 6.5x13 snare for about year and a half and it continues to amaze me. I still have the factory heads and snare wires on it and it's sounding killer! This snare sound better than my other 4 snares in the studio and it cuts through live performances. Best value around!!!

I got the size with a 12 inch head, and this snare is awesome if you adjust it right. I have a drumdial tuner, and I love a snare with a pop that makes you blink or flinch every time you hit it. so on the drumdial tuner, I like to tune the head up to 90. the only part of this snare I didnt like, is the snares, the snares are held on with some kind of cloth. And that broke within a month of having this snare. But this flaw is easily replaced. heck, if your a real cheapo like me, you could replace the cloth with blue jean material.... but yea, I am also considering getting this snare in the biggest size, for more of a deeper sound.

I own the 14" by 6.5", and it's a monster! It has some HUGE crack to it, but it's also sensitive. I replaced the stock snare wires with a 42-strand Gibraltar one, so it's even more ringy. You'll have to use some moongel if you don't like the ring. Overall, 4.5/5. Awesome! I'll be keeping this snare for a long time.
