I am a high school student in Tennessee, and have been playing drums for seven years. I am the lead snare in the school marching band and have experience playing drum kits. I have played many kits in these seven years, and the Tama Rockstar Custom kit is one of the best kits I've had the oppurtunity to play. I also own it!

The Tama Rockstar Custom is an outstanding kit for the money. Excellent projection. I installed the Evans G2 heads along with the EMAD bass and the tone really warmed up. Great for any type of music. You do have to nurse the tuning a bit, but once you get it, they sound great. The laquer finish is deep and rich. If I had to pick on something, the plastic bass hoops are inferior as well as the whimpy bass spurs. And Tama, it's time to lose the massive lugs already. Overall, I've played my kit in a myriad of places and they will stand up to anything you can dish out and sound and look great doing it.

This set is awesome. First of all I love the mahogany fade finish its sick!!! The sound is so awesome and if you get the right head (or the standard head if tuned right) then the snare sounds great and has no ring. My friend recently purchased a really expensive set before I got mine and he always bragged about it. He came over and played my new tama and was just like... Wow yours sounds better than mine. Way to go TAMA!!
I just bought the carmel fade kit a few days ago. This set is really awesome, I feel like I should be paying more for everything you get, its a great deal. This set compares to some of the high end sets out there. I am going to be playing shows with it in about a month, i know it will do great. Get this set! Tama is awesome!
Nice set at a good price, was voted by Modern Drummer to be an excellent drumset. I like it because it's made by Tama - so you can trust it. It has pro drumset features at a beginner price!
WOW, this drum set is truly amazing. The sound is so sweet. I use this set at my church and it really puts out a true professional sound! A great choice!
This is a great set of drums. The color and finish is excellent, the hardware is heavy duty, top quality, road tough. The mounting system is great, and the drums have excellent tone. I tuned mine flatish and full using tone rings. My friend has a new Grover set, and I was originally intending to purchase the Yamaha hip gig SR 5-piece set. I can say without reservation that I am glad I purchased the Tama. The Grovers are a great set but very expensive. For the price, I couldn't imagine a better set of drums... at first I was not sure if I made a mistake with the Tama, but not anymore, they're perfect for me!
One of the best sets I have, I have had 3 drumsets - and this has been the best one so far!
Duh.....These are definitely great drums....I've only had them for a week....And I'm VERY impressed with everything!!!......Duh
I searched long and hard for a quality drumset at a good price that plays both rock and jazz. It was a tough search with only a few choices, and I played most of them, but the Tama Rockstar Custom Fusion set was by far better than any other set I sampled. I thought the price would be much more! I knew that was the set to buy right then and there. I have had the set for about a year now and I still continue to try to find one thing I don't like about this set. If you're looking for the perfect set at an amazing price, your search is over!
I have been drumming for 12 yrs. Played with a number of bands. Of course I have always wanted a big, professional maple kit like a Starclassic but they're so expensive!! A friend of mine Bought a Rockstar Custom and let me play on it. Finest kit I ever played. I was in disbelief when he told me how much it had cost him at MF.com. From the outstanding sound of the shells, to the durability of Tama's hardware, to the eyecatching color options of the Rockstar Custom... This set gets a 10+!!
toms are awesome! punchy bass drum. sweet snare. great hardware.
