OVERVIEW

A brawny, maple-shelled snare for power drummers who refuse to sacrifice tonal quality for big sound.

The Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare is at the nexus of the snare drum universe. A fusion of boutique-style, select hardwoods and unique dimensions, it delivers a rich, thick tone with bright and surprising volume. With a thick 13-ply 10mm Maple shell, the generous dimensions and appearance of the drum make an immediate impression.

However, the innovations don't stop at the tone and appearance. Tama's work on identifying the ideal snare sound led them to develop the new hardware like the "Sound Arc" Hoops which add sustain, wider tuning range and a fuller frequency response. Hearty brass tube lugs will ensure a long lifespan for your tension rods, as well as your tune. And finally, the Starclassic Hi- Carbon Steel Snappy snares will emphasize needed punch and attack, as needed.

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare Drum:

This is a great snare. It sounds good tuned however you like, but, in my opinion, shines at a medium tuning. It has no problem staying in tune. The finish looks great.
Cons? I honestly don't love the rim shots on this, but they aren't at all bad sounding. I just think they sound better on my other, 14" snares.
Great drum all in all. Best snare I've purchased so far.

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare Drum:

Excellent sound. I couldn't be happier with this drum. It has a nice crack when hitting rim shots. I did replace the stock head with an Evans Genera Dry just because I've used and like that head a lot. The snares are highly adjustable too. I really like that as during gigs I will go from hip/hop that requires a tight setting to country that sounds better with a looser sound.

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare Drum:

Ok so I play DW drums exclusively and occasionally a Dunnett Stainless or a Super Solid Craviotto snare in the studio so I have used very high quality gear. I was looking for a 13" snare mainly to use as an aux snare in a live gigging situation. I stumbled across some youtube vids on this drum. Don't let the price fool you. This drum sounds very very good in all tuning ranges but especially cranked up. So good, that it replaced my 6 x 14 DW Edge as the drum of choice playing live. SM57's love this drum!! Suprising to me how sensitive this drum is. I did replace the factory snares with Puresound Blasters and of course the batter head with an Evans ST Dry, but dang this drum sounds great straight out of the box. If you play funk, R&B, Rock or power Pop you cannot go wrong with this snare. Don't think I would use it in the studio as I prefer metal snares for recording, but try this snare live mic'd up and you'll be a believer. Tama hit a home run with this one. Rim shots are some of the best I've ever heard.. great snare!!

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare Drum:

I bought this G-Maple right when it came out to replace a 14x6.5 Pearl Brass snare and was worried that I would miss the volume of my old drum. This guy really impressed me right away. It certainly cuts through lots of loud amplification with no problems. High pitched, focused and a really nice sound. The higher you crank it, the better it sounds!

Comments about Tama S.L.P. G-Maple Snare Drum:

This snare is great!! I just added it to my kit I play anything from hard rock, to pop and indie but the loud piccilo pop from the 13 inch batter is accompanied by a warm tone from the wood and depth. With this drum you get volume along with control. I have found when doing more jazzy beats where soft snare rolls are followed by hard hits the control and the tones from these 2 styles work very well. no complaints other than the fact I should have bought this snare way before now!
