Good kit, I played a maple set before this birch. The differences are night and day. It is going to take a while to tune them to my liking. Very heavy punch from the low toms and the mid and high tom have a weak sustain but with stock heads you can't ask for much. snare has potential with new heads. I am running tama iron cobra pedals on the bass and even running on them with stock batter on the bass you can decipher each note played. Overall a great set with upgraded heads. Shipping time was just under a week. Ordered them on a tuesday had them the next monday. Auditioned for a band here in central Arkansas and was impressed with the overall performance. Definitely a well priced intermediate kit. From the looks of it also easy to expand.

Tama really keeps their tradition strong with their new starclassic line. i dont know of many other sets of such good soud, construction, and craftmanship for this price tag. Whether or not recording, playing live, or practi e, this set does it all and then some for all genres..defintely worth the money :)

Overall, this is a great kit! It will not dissapoint! Great price, great quality, great look, great buy!
Where do i start!? I guess i'll start with the hardware! For an intermediate drum kit, the hardware is great! The hoops arent as good as diecast hoops, but they're still pretty strong. The lugs look great and are solidly in place, never loosen. The really nice thing is these drums stay in tune after a good beating! Of course after moving it around for a couple shows i have to fine tune it a little, but thats expected during transportation. And the finish! The laquer finish is stunning! Cant go wrong with transparent red burst if you ask me! the starcast mounts are great too, tho they do make tuning the toms a little more difficult for me.
As far as quality goes, id rate it at about a 7 or an 8! Not quite as good as the starclassic line, but this is still a very nice kit! The all birch shells sound fantastic, especially with new REMO heads! The toms and floor toms have a nice fat punchy tone to them with a lot of definition and clarity to each stroke. The bass drums are nice and loud with a nice warm thud to them! Fat but still toneful! They sound good tuned both low and high! Very versitile! This kit sounds killer when miced too! For heads I'd recommend remo clear emporers on the toms and floor toms, either clear powersroke 3's or clear powerstroke pro's on the bass drum(s), and either a coated powersroke 3 reverse dot or coated controlled sound head on the snare!a
For the price, you really cant beat this kit! consitering all the features! And custom ordering add ons is easy! I ordered the standard 5 piece with an extra 22"x 18" bass, a 14"x 14" floor tom and a 13"x 10" tom. Thats a pretty good deal for and 8 piece birch kit that matches! like i said, for the price, you really cant beat this kit!

I just bought this kit and it arrived just a few days later, and i have to say im impressed. I got the transparent blue fade and it just looks awesome, i wanted the titanium fade but it was back-ordered like crazy. Suprisingly the stock heads were actually pretty damn good. When tuned right, no muffling is needed. The bass drum head is, well, not bad, but not good either, but with a little muffling it has a good sound. The tom mounting system is just great. I highly recommend this kit, or as far as that goes any tama products. They just make good quality stuff, plain and simple. They never disappoint.

This is a fantastic set with a truly great sound. they have a great punch and the set didn't require much tuning out of the box to get the sound I wanted ( I like to keep mine tuned low). You hear this set and you can tell that it's birch because it's just so loud. My old set was made of mohogany and I could hear a difference in volume.
This set has some cool stuff going for it, the star mount system is outstanding. The bass drum feet are perfect too.
Just pulling it out of the box you can tell that this set is of very legit quality. The finish is GORGEOUS.

What can I say? I love this drum set and am happy that I got it when I did. If you need a new, great sounding set. This is it!
For me, this drum set it amazing. I got it in a transparent blue finish and I love it. The bass drm Legs are also very durable and won't let the bass drum move at all, The star mounting system was new to me, though. I always used tom arms and didn't think I would like this system. Turns out, I love it! I can adjust my tons easily to the best position for me.
The quality of this set is incredible. As it being my first pro set I thought it was great. It sounded good right out of the box and even better after putting remo heads on it that I had from my other set. The hoops fit well and the lugs are smooth when tuning the set. When I first played them with te set up finalized, it sounded stellar. It was dippy and punchy, I've never heard anything like it. The only complaint I have are the floor toms being a little wiggly, that could just be the way the legs are positioned, though. The birch shells were also new to me, I heard they were punchy and dippy so I got this. I love the birch shells like nothing else. Perfect for me genres of music.
For a pro drum set, this really cannot be beat. I don't regret it at all. I love this set and plan on usin it for a while. And for a pro set, this price is already a steal!
