Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
I got these pedals(i bought 2 singles for double bass kit) last summer and have had them ever since so i figured why not review them now... well right as u begin playing them they're pretty heavy and sluggish.. it just takes time to get used to and tune to your settings but trust me once you do these pedals are insanely fast and powerful! you can easily do slow and insanely fast beats with ease with these pedals.. The cobra coil is something fun to play around with and change to different parts on the pedal.. i also like how you can use every inch of the pedal like all the way up where the chain is to all the way down where the heel plate is at almost.. and i love that it comes with a handy case.. these pedals are PERFECT for ANYBODY! you guys at tama nailed it! Great pedal and well worth the money!

Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
So smooth and fast. Right out of the box all I had to do was tighten down the spring and I was finished! The long board really helps with my speed and endurance. I have owned a pair of the older "iron cobra" and I couldn't hold a steady 32nd beat. With these bad boys I can jam for hours and never get half as tired!!! They are so much more sterdy and lighter than "iron cobra". The bearings really are better. I would recommend these to all levels of drummers and metal heads to jazz players. Best pedals hands down!!!!!

Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
Make no mistake. This is an improvement from any pedal no matter what your level of playing. I love the way it makes my drum sound so much fatter and solid. There are awesome foot positions up and down this pedal without interference. I love it.
Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
It really is faster, and gives me more control, than any pedal I've ever used before.
I love how easy it is to adjust. I love the way it attaches to the bass drum.
Seams like it will last forever.
Not the most expensive kick you could buy but not the cheapest either. I cannot imagine spending more on a single pedal.
Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
I'm not an expert on foot pedals. I'd been using an old middle-of-the-road Tama petal for 20 years and needed an upgrade. All I can say is that this pedal is sweet. The light weight of the beater took some getting used to (and I like the sound of the flat part of the beater better than the pointed part), but once I adjusted, my footwork has never been better. In the past, the pedal I had limited my skills. Now I have to work my skills up to the level of the pedal. And, as a size 13, I love the long board.
It's got everything you could possibly want and is easily adjustable.
I've only been playing it a couple of weeks, but it is SOLID and built to last.
It's a bit pricey for someone who doesn't play professionally, but it you plan on playing for a long time, it's a good investment. With the sale discounts, I got an excellent price.
Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
Over all it's awesome couldn't ask for more (well I could but you know how it goes) I love this pedal if your considering it just buy it trust me you will REALLY like it I can tell the difference from it and my old pedal immediately I could do fills with my foot significantly faster! Highly recommend!
TONS of features! I like the bearing on the spring, smooth as butter, it's addicting, I want to go play just because of how smooth and responsive this pedal is! I also like the cobra coil I had no idea was on it, that's the only reason was even considering iron cobra.
The quality is awesome, it feels like a rock, so sturdy! I can't say how pleased I an with this product. It really surprised me I'm deffenetly a speed cobra fan from now on! I can't find a quality flaw on this thing! I recommend over any other pedal!
I put a 10 because for this caliber of pedal it's a good price but everyone likes to gripe about the price could be lower.
Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
Nice feel, like a Ludwig Speed King, but with more bells and whistles for adjustments.
A lot of adjustments like other pedals.
Solid metal parts, no plastic pieces like some pedals.
A bit expensive but there's manufacturing tooling costs for new equipment and R&D costs to the Tama people.
Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
Playing drums for over 35 years, I have used just about every peice of drumming equipment known to man. Before this pedal I was a huge fan of the Trick Pro V and still am for certain playing conditions. (See my review of this pedal on this site) The Trick compresses the spring instead of stretching it which makes for a much more responsive feel for heel up players. The Speed Cobra is without a doubt one of the smoothest and controllable pedals I've ever used. I went to my local GC here in Nashville and they let me take home both the Pearl Demon and the Speed Cobra. I spent about 3 days using both and make adjustments to fit my taste. Here are my conclusions. Many folks disagree about writing a review so quickly, but in my experience a new peice of equipment either feels right after a couple of days or it doesn't.
1) The Demon Drive is possibly the fastest single pedal on the market however it lacks control and pedal feel is somewhat exaggerated. Great pedal if you want to rip off 16th notes at 100 bpm. The pedal has a magnitude of adjustments, but no matter how much I tweaked it it still didn't respond like the Trick or the Speed Cobra.
2) The Speed Cobra on the other hand played much like the Trick and very similar to a DW9000, although the DW9000 is way overpriced and still lacks the control of the Speed Cobra. I would compare the Speed Cobra to the older Ludwig Speed Kings but requiring less effort for control and a touch more speed. The constuction of the pedal is very good and time will time how well it holds up using it 16 + hrs a week.
Over the years I have tried just about every pedal to hit the market. I currently own a Yamaha Flying Dragon double( a very under-rated pedal!), DW9000, Axis AAX-X, Trick Pro 1-V and now a Tama Speed Cobra. I took the Demon Drive back.. Of these 5 pedals, I would have to say the Speed Cobra overall is the best playing, most responsive, most controllable and best of all, the CHEAPEST in price. Each of the 5 pedals have their own strong points and work well in different situations, but for someone who doesn't have a 1K to spend on kick pedals, I would highly recommend the Speed Cobra. I'm not knocking the Denom Drive, and I'm sure for some players it would be their Holy Grail, but at 300+ dollars it's price point doesn't meet it's performance IMHO unless you want to break Tim Waterson's world speed record with one pedal.
This pedal has all the features and adjustments any normal drummer could possibly want.
Built to last as with most Tama products.
This pedal seems priced low for the quality and design engineering behind it. Tama has a winner here!
Comments about Tama Speed Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal:
I love this pedal .. been through most the high end pedals and this one is my winner.
Features.. well the things that stands out on this pedal when directly comparing to others is it has a big long foot board .. I wear big size 13 sneakers when I play and this thing will fit even a bigger shoe! If you've got big feet this is the one! Second, it is unbelievably light feeling.. everyone says some of the more expensive pedals are smooth but in direct comparison they have nothing on the light, smooth feel of this one. I don't like the funky beater that it comes with but that is easily replaceable. It is made to be very light and allow fast play.. but doesn't quite produce the impact I like to hear. This is a very unique pedal!
Seems plenty good.. it is aluminum.. not the heavy steel feel.
If you got big feet and want a fast pedal .. nothing compares. It is very reasonably priced too.
