I'll describe the sound of these drums like this - amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect from the all-birch shells, but I'm beyond impressed. I've owned this set for about 6 months now and it still amazes me in recordings that the beautiful sounding drums there are my own. only ONE downside and that's the toms are held on the bassdrum. other than that, the set is flawlessReally tho, the sound is something a bit different, and hard to explain, than your average pro kit. The popular sound today seems to be low end of maple but this set gives you lots of low end with a nice high end punch that doesn't overpower the lows.. sound confusing? does to me, but that's the best i can put it - all around pleasing sound!!

I am amazed with the resonance of this set. The bass drum has an awesome low punch. The snare could be better, but i was happy with it once i muffled it a little. Great sound and great look!

One of the Best

By Dan-The-Man

Ok, so these shells are some of the best sounding shells I have ever heard. I have worked for Guitar Center (Music Superstore) and so I have got the chance to play many of the top of the line kits (DW, Pearl Masters Custom ect...) and I can say that these shells sound just as good. I bought the pack and I put some aquarian heads on them and Everyone who heard them loved them. I don't think I will ever want a new kit (I might add some more Toms however) Anyways, this shell pack is well worth the price, and infact, I'm suprised it dosen't cost more. I have happily owned this kit for two years.

Starclassic Drums Rock!

By Giffy

from Newton, IA

For the money you can't beat them. Great sound, looks, and a reasonable price. Not to mention Tama has the BEST hardware in the industry. I have used them for recording and gigging and they rule. My drums turn heads and I sound awesome. Compare them to the much more expensive competion and count in the Tama hardware and the choice is clear: Starclassic!

Excellent Drumset

By drummerman12

from Chesterton, IN

I bought my starclassic about 3 years ago and I love it. I play all the time and it has been an excellent set for me. It is a very high quality drumset and sounds awesome. I chose this drumset over a couple of other yamaha or ludwig sets that were around the same price because the tone of the drums and the quality were far superior to the others. I have performed on stage in front of huge audiences several times and it always sounds good. There are also 7 and 8 inch high toms that you can get along with a 16 inch floor tom.

I like it

By Nicky Pants

from Cleveland, Ohio

These drums sound awesome, the only complaint i have is the bass drum head that comes with it. I put an EMAD on it and it sounded awesome. I very much so enjoy the star cast mounting system. all in all, an awesome deal for the price.

Good but enough????

I'm a musician from ohio. and when my band Those Buried lays shows this kit sounds perfect its almost everything i could have asked for. before you buy something like this I would say to readlly know what music you like i play metal and I started out with a little punkrock set. This set is good because its easy to add on more toms and sounds nice + we all know TAMA is the best right? Well good luck with your kit and best advice get a band going best thing for a musician to do to learn..

Tama

By Max-wAeS_

from Rochester, NY

I played crapy CB drums for about four years until I finally picked up some nice Tama's, of course they blew away the cb's but what I see about the tama is that the the sound is so deep warm and boomy but its very well rounded smooth and easily tunable to you're desires. A very un flackey in the hardware and the sound. Laquer finish looks amazing.
