These drums are totally worth the extra money. The hardware (tom mounts, lugs, ect.) are what makes these a little more expensive than the other birch kits on the market. I have 2 Starclassic Performer kits, 20, 8, 10, 12, 14 in diamond dust and one in Metallic blue w/22, 10, 12, 14 and i love them both. They are the only drums that I have ever owned that compare with my custom Pork Pie kit. Ive had DW, Pearl Masters, and Premier and they don't come close. The new starcast mounts are great too!
I bought these drums for the Citrus Mod wrap. I was not expecting much as I have had Starclassics in the past and though them to be somewhat average. But these are birch Starclassics and they have great punch, decent tone and of course they look great! The hardware is incredible - die cast rims and heavy claws and spurs - great Evans G1 and G2 heads too. My only complaints are that they are a bit expensive, and you cannot get add-on drums in these wraps (I need a 16" tom but they do not make them anymore!).
Great shells, great hardware. Tone projection is very nice. My only complaint is the price. My Mapex M Birch 24 Rock kit sounds just as good if not better, and its a few hundred dollars cheaper. If ya have the money, go for it...but you can have a few hundred left to by more cymbals, hardware, etc
This set is amazing! my friend has had it for a while now....the toms have the nicest sound. It's an awesome set, for a great price!
