Hey I was looking to expand my kit and boy am I glad I took the time to pick this floor tom out. For the price one pays the quality is outstanding, which I dont find unusual coming from Tama. Provides great sound, and is easy to be tuned to where you want it not where you have to settle for.
I just got the 18" Swingstar floor-tom--AWESOME!I've been using two 16" floor-toms for years (decades)and now the 18" even with the factory heads--it sounds GREAT! I wish I would have found this long long ago!!! For the price you cant beat it!Just so you know, it only has 6 tuning lugs per head but I like that because my theory is that when you get the head tuned to your prefered pitch tension, each lug will be tighter and less prone to loosening up because there are less lugs to divide the load. BTW- I HATE 10 lug snare drums!Anyway I LOVE IT!!!
I just got this beautiful floor tom and am quite impressed! It is just like the rest of the Swingstar line in the fact that they sound great and are unbelievably low priced. Not as high quality as more expensive drums, but then again those are much more expensive. Only gripe is that the heads it comes with are just awful, but that was to be expected.
I got the 18x 16 floor tom, it has an incredibly low end sound, the stock batter head is better suited for jazz drumming, i would recommend either remo's clear or ebony heads to give it that thunderous sound, best suited for rock and metal. Great Floor tom.
