Comments about Taye Drums Standard Series Brass Snare Drum:
I used this snare to record a few songs and they sounded pretty great once they were mixed and mastered, but I had to do a lot of tweaking. The tension rods had NO lubrication whatsoever, I was expecting this snare to be pretty comfortable to tune so I could really get the feel for a brass snare. However turning the tension rods one way or another doesn't give you the knowledge you need to fine tune the drum, two full turns could maybe only be 1/4" turn because the tension rods are so stiff. If I don't lubricate them well enough myself I'm afraid I'll most likely damage the rods or lugs and maybe strip something.
But if you can figure it out, two moon gels on a medium to tight tuning really gets great attack.
