Comments about Traps Drums power pads:
I have had the Traps power pads for couple of weeks now. I put them on my PDP/DW Maple Fusion acoustic set. They do everything that they are advertized to do. Easy to set up. They are excellent for apartment practice. I have not gigged with them but it wouldn't be out of the question. If you've got a good amp then you get a good sound. The action is almost as good as playing acoustic or electronic with mesh heads. And for a fraction of the cost. The control module may not compare to other manufacturers but you get what you pay for. Other manufactures charge more for their control module than I paid for the power pads set with a control module. There are lots of voices so you can taylor your set to your needs. If you want an electronic set, you want it to look as good as an acoustic set, and you don't have $1500 to $2000 to spend, I highley recommend these power pads. When I got my set I set them up in just a few minutes. I found that one of the tom heads was not as load as the other heads. I called Traps, The owner answered the phone by-the-way, I had a replacement in just a few days. No hassle, no questions. Traps support is superb.
Comments about Traps Drums power pads:
Nice idea, but cheaply executed. Pads are simply wetsuit neoprene over hard but thin plastic disks. Piezos have inconsistent sensitivity, for which there is no adjustment possible in the brain, so you have to hit some pads harder than others. These change over time, as the cheap piezos break down and lose sensitivity. The bass pad broke almost immediately, due to extremely flimsy wiring. Vibration in the high hat pad causes it to trigger repeatedly with each hit unless you play really light or throw a blanket over it to dampen. The vibrations also tends to make the plugs wiggle out of the jacks unless you tape them in. The samples in the brain are average, but noisy. Lots of digital hiss. Its external power supply was very fragile and had to be replaced right away. The play-along songs are predictably embarassing. Although this price is not much for electronic drums, this one was not worth it. I would love to be able to quietly play digital off my acoustic setup without spending a lot of time swapping out heads.
Comments about Traps Drums power pads:
Overall it is OK if you have the Traps drum set and want to practice at night. But remember to use the electrical tape to tape the jack so you don't loose contact while you play that would take a lot of the frustration away. Good luck.
After 3 months of returning and tweaking the traps kit is working. I was having a problem with the pads and cymbals fade and not working in general but have found a cure the problem was in the jack coming loose so I wrapped it with electrical tape and it works great. The features are OK the only thing is that the cymbals are single zone so thats a problem but as a practice set it's OK.
Like I said the jacks are very week they don't snap in like they should and while your playing they come loose in side giving a false sence that they are not working I returned all of the pads and cymbals at least once until I discovered the fix with the tape so if the address that problem and develop a 3 zone cymbal then it would be great.
OK but could be improved.
Comments about Traps Drums power pads:
Not worth the price would not be bad if it worked have yet to see any good reviews on this set.
Features would be ok if they would work. I returned the first set within the 45 days and they sent out another and it was not much better the sound bank module has ok sounds. But with the cymbals it can only make one sound at a time the bell ride sound is just the bell not the whole thing. Some times if you go to fast it leaves hits out or the pad is slow and some pads started to not make a sound 1 out of 3 or 4 hits nothing but I kept trying new sound levels and it's past 45 days so I can't send it back. Not worth the money.
If I could send it back for a refund i would but it's past 45 days the entire kit has not worked since I had it I thought sometimes that it was supposed to sound like that. so they had me send it back and they sent me another one thinking that all would be ok. but I soon found out that was not the case so they gave me a number to call for the warranty I called them and they were fast and good at sending new pads out when i first called I had1 cymbal and the 10" pad but 3 days when they called me back the snare went bad so they sent out new ones and they worked well then 3 days after that the big 14" pad started to sound more muffled than before then I noticed on the module you can push the button and hear what the pad should sound like and that was great but hitting the pad with the stick it sounded like the volume was turned way down when it was all the way up. So they sent another 14" pad out and the same thing with that one. So I'm at a loss for what to do except to toss it in trash.
Way over-priced not worth $500 I would spend more and just get a digital kit if you have the room for at night practice and play traps kit in the day while people are at work. But bottom line they don't work I would be interested in how well there new mesh head E-500 works but they are not available in the states for some reason.
Comments about Traps Drums power pads:
I got these because of the same reason most people have to purchase electric drums (cops getting called). they are great because you still feel like you are playing your set; and when the neighbors aren't home you just take off the pads and you're playin your accoustic kit.the sounds are amazingly real and you can adjust sensitivity to any liking. It's hard to tell they're electric when you record with them. they do make a click sound when you strike 'em but its not that loud (silent when using headphones); I started using Hot-Rods on them instead of regular sticks and the clicking is no longer heard at all. the Hot-Rods are also easier on the pads so they should last longer. The bass drum pad broke the first day i got it and they replaced it, but that one broke too. Don't make this a reason to not buy these because after the second one broke, i took the first one apart and found out that it was just two wires and a simple 1/4" guitar jack (one of the wires came loose). i re-attached the wire on both the bass pads and now i have two that work awesomely. Only the bass pad has this problem b/c it vibrates more than the other pads, resulting in the wires jiggling loose. So if you know a little about positive and negative wiring these things will last 4ever. overall: great electric drum kit for turnin it down.

I got this after my neighbor called the cops on me for playing my drums too loud. You definately can't play all night long as for when you hit the cymbals its a very loud click and the bass drum is still a pretty loud boom but is significantly silent compared to the acoustic sound.. definately apartment legal. The drum module doesnt fit properly on the mount thats given to you. Its also very hard to get a snare roll and some fills. The bass trigger broke on the first day I got them.. I recieved a brand new one after I returned that set and the bass trigger broke again 2 weeks later.. so I just returned it all together.. Cool product as far as the sounds and creativity but the quality is crap. Definately not worth the money. Save up and buy an electric set if you need silent practice..
