Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
I replaced my DW 5000's with these pedals and there was an obvious improvement in smoothness and response. I'm no pro drummer by any means but the way I look at it is that a good pedal is a good investment.
I tried alot of the other models out there, demon drives, speed cobras, ect. and for a little more money these are much better. They are a double pedal that can be used indivualally if down the line you change your shell pack to have two bass drums.
I'll be using these for a very long time.
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
I finally decided to pick up some double pedals, after 2 years of using a DW 9000 single pedal. This was after a 25 year break in drumming. I did a lot of research and heard many good and bad things about the other pedals. I was just about to get the DW 9000 double pedals but heard the drive shaft has some play in it and can worsen over time. I heard the AXIS pedals don't have enough power, but are fast.
It was truly by blind faith I picked up these Dominator Doubles since no one had them anywhere to play. I interviewed people that had the Bigfoot and the Pro1-V, and they were extremely satisfied with them...but they were not cheap!
Needless to say, man! I am completely satisified with these! First of all, they come as 2 separate pedals. The engineering and material (Billet Alum) put it in another category. What's so awesome is that you can quickly reach down, and turn a dial on the "Compression" spring to change your tension in between songs, with 1 hand!
They play smoother than butter, and you get no lag or slack from the slave pedal to beater. None.
Cons: The beaters are not as heavy, so I use the DW double sided beaters. The clamp does not actually screw onto the hoop, but is suspended with a lock spring. Still getting used to that. Otherwise this bad boy get a 10!
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
I've been drumming for close to a decade, and really haven't played with many double pedals but I've played enough double bass kits. my last pedal was a very old double pedal - which it's slave wouldn't work too well especially at the 190+ BPM range with 16th notes making it a royal pain to use. when i entered the market for a new pedal I tried to the Iron cobra, and the demon drive, both of which felt good but basically the same as my old pedal - Just the slave however worked properly, and they responded quicker/better.
Not much of a learning curve too either of them, I didn't want to spend my money on something that could turn into what i already had.
I tried the trick Big-foot after Tama, and pearls pedals. I was amazed at how it felt - and how much quicker it responded on both pedals (The stores settings were perfect for me, oddly enough). I was sold but couldnt afford the big-foot so i went with the dominatorWhen i got the dominator home and set it up, I had basically figured out my settings right away after 2 hours of playing. And I Immediately began trying double kick. It's been 5 days since then, and even with the learning curve that comes with this pedal (Some people will get used too it quicker then others) I've gotten back too the 200ish BPM range on 16th notes and what a difference this pedals made. The sound, the consistancy, the feel, the comfort are ALL better with this pedal. In the end - It's worth every penny. I'm a very quick learner, and it took me a week to get used to this pedal - and I'm still getting better with it. Don't let that deterr you, I'm better with this thing then my old pedal already!
Just don't expect too get this and pick up where you left off with your old double pedal. Take a few weeks and give it some patience - It's well worth it.
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
When i first got my Trick Dominator's and put them on my kit, i kinda hated them. i just wasn't able to find the right adjustments of spring tension, footboard height, or beater distance. after nearly a month or 2 of testing, i found the near perfect set up, THEN these pedals became AMAZING. im still learning with them nearly 8 months later. but just give it time and it will feel perfect.
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
At first when i started playing, im not gonna lie... i didnt like these that much at all. then came an epiphanic moment when i moved my beaters alot closer than i usually would and then i tightened up the compression spring as much as i cud! All of these things put together made the best pedal i have ever laid my foot on!! juss give it some time and ull love em
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
This pedal is a very smooth pedal. It's almost like playing against air flow. I saw instant improvements in my playing once I put this pedal on my set. It responds to everything, which is something my old pedals wouldn't do. You get what you pay for, you pay a lot you get a lot in this case! GO FOR IT!
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
I had iron cobras before these butes and i think the ic's had a ton more rebound but having the ability to adjust alot on this makes up for it. also if you think you want these you'd better get some different beaters. in my opinion, they're junk. so i used the iron cobra beater with the rubber tips. real nice tho otherwise
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
Once you're done with the compression spring learning curve this pedal is a beast. Built like a tank...the driveshaft is TIG welded, come on? Billet aluminum beaters hit hard, the pedal is infinitely adjustable...I went from Axis A's to this, I love the axis, but bottom line is this pedal is designed and built better, not saying one or the other is better, thats all personal preference, but this pedal will probably fit the bill who thought the Axis pedals felt "too light"This pedal has me eyeballing a trick kit now...
Comments about Trick Drums Dominator Double Pedal:
I bought this pedal on the 27th of Jan 09. I am still getting accustomed to it. Coming from 6 years on a Tama Iron Cobra, this is a whole new ball game. Very well made, smooth as butter, very sensitive and allows speed with ease. I wear size 13 and the foot boards are plenty big. The pedal truly acts as independent beaters. Not like the Tama system. I've not played the original Trick or the Axis, but it would be hard to top this pedal. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars across the board? Trick had a design flaw in the mounting system. However it has been corrected and is now flawless. The mount system needs replacement rubber feet, which Trick will provide for free if you call them. I got the first run of this pedal, they say it is now fixed and shipping corrected. You will not be sorry with this pedal.
