I'd needed a space-saving, swiveling drum throne for playing and recording guitar and keyboard in my cramped home studio. For the price, this hit the spot. The first thing I noticed about it was that the hardware was much more substantial, and sturdier, than the price would have led me to expect. The rubber feet are also good-quality. The only complaint I have is that the seat could be considered insufficiently-padded, but its firmness lets the throne double as a nifty little drink table (no joke). I cannot say how this throne would suffice for playing drums, but for my purposes, it's great.

This product provides an inexpensive, entry level quality drum throne, but not much else. When I first got this 18 months ago, the first thing I noticed is the bolt that attaches the seat to the downtube does not have a hole, it just rubs against the downtube which causes the seat to move around and squeak while playing, but it can be partially resolved by tightening it very tight with a pair of pliers. The seat itself has very thin padding and is not comfortable to sit on for more than 20 minutes at a time, less when I'm doing double bass, though the leather covering is relatively durable. The legs will not retain their setting unless you tighten that bolt with a pliers as well, but otherwise are of average stability. The downtube only has three adjustment holes and may not be able to adjust quite high enough, I know it wasn't quite enough for me, and before I got the chance to add another hole with a drill, the downtube snapped in half at the middle adjustment hole today. And that is the end of my experience with this product. Don't buy this unless you have less than the forty or more quid that it would take to purchase a higher quality throne. Save your buttocks, lower back, and legs a lot of pain.

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:
I bought this throne to go along with a jr kit for my 5 year old. She is tall for her age and has long legs, but even on the lowest setting, it's a stretch for her to be able to reach the pedal. That's the only drawback. I thought that because it was shown as an "accessory" with the Jr set, that it was suitable for kids.

Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:
This works well, but you can tell it's not a $100 throne. I bought it to accompany my electronic drums and it works well. Makes quite a bit of noise when you move around on it but it works.

Not bad for the price, I use it as a back up.
Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:
I bought this throne for our 4 year old grandaughter to go with her jr. drum set. It's perfect for a child or teen who is not very heavy. It is fine for the price and our use. Would not recommend for an adult or someone who plays a lot.
Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:
I use it for keyboard and pedal steel. I use the seat pole upside down to lower the height. I am a heavy weight and it supports me fime
Simple to set up and use
As good as others I have used
Can' t beat the price
Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:
A nice seat, a little shaky but overall it's alright if your just looking for a seat to get.
The seat is just the right size for me, I am 13 and about 120 lbs. The seat is pretty supporting.
The seat is a little shaky, even if you tighten it all the way and one of the legs came a little loose for me, but overall its nice.
It seems like a good deal, although, I would recommend getting a better one if your a heavier/older person, as it will work better for kids/lightweight people.
Comments about Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne:
It works well for what I use it for.
This is a decent stool, which I use for guitar students in 4th-8th grade.
I've never tried it using with drums though, and while it looks like it support a weight of up to 180lb, I would recommend a higher grade stool for adults.
The quality is fine.
The price is fine for this item.
