I have been using these for a year playing about 2-3 gigs per month. Transport them attached to the stands knocking around my hardware bag with my other stands. No signs of damage or wear.
If you need to break down and setup quickly between sets, I highly recommend these. Dealing with wingnuts on cymbal stand tops used to be somewhat nerve-wracking, over-loosen a wingnut in a hurry and it would go bouncing around in the dark (I'm sure most gigging drummers have had that experience before).
Only con I've noticed is the locking mechanism on one of the three fasteners is a little more stubborn when securing into place. But ultimately it still works, and I've never had to lock my fasteners onto my stands.
Haven't had any threading issues either using a sound percussion boom, a dw straight and some no-name straight.
You will probably have to experiment with different sized felts to get the feels/responses you want from the cymbals just right. Didn't take me much time or effort to get them right. I squeezed a couple of additional thin felts I had lying around beneath and above the cymbal. Then put on the fastener, no washers.
BOTTOM LINE:
Really worth it for gigging drummers.

A good concept, but this thing won't stay on my stand. It wiggles off immediately with the first cymbal hit, therefore it is unusable. I'm not sure, but it seems that the spring is not strong enough. Locking it down with the hex-nut might keep it in place, but that would defeat the purpose of the quick-release mechanism. I see that others rated it highly, so I guess someone got it to work. I would advise trying before buying if possible.

Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:
I love these fasterners! They do the job of holding the cymbal in place, without needing to adjust or lock down ever again. I did not have any problem with setting up. The felts, as provided, worked fine with all my cymbals. I bought three and now want to buy ten! Maybe a bit expensive. But now I can focus on the music and NOT the gear! Buy them - they look great and work well.

Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:
I break down and set my set up my set 15 to 20 times a week and the slick nut is great! It cuts down set up time at gigs and is strong. Does not slide off or pop off...(you could lift up the stand by just the slick nut)Only issue I had was that I have the cymbal sleeves with threads, I had to file off the threads to lower it further to allow the slick nut to clamp on...this took 1 min. I am buying them for all my cymbals. I highly recommend the slick nut to any drummer!

a great product this is a MUST HAVE for any drummer
i dont use the allan key becaus i like the quickness of being able to change my splash cymbal from rude 10 inch to a signature 8 inch (paiste) or even stack them. i can even do all of this dureing the song to lol
people say there were issues with it poping off but i havnt seen that and i dont even use the allan key fastening thing
its kinda expensive to get slick nuts for all of your cymbals and x-hats but its well worth it!!!
Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:
This little doohicky is the coolest thing for any drummers kit. These are the neatest, quickest, and have the greatest ability to keep your cymbals safe, and held right. I had the stock wingnuts and things on there, but everytime I hit the cymbal, the wingnut would loosen/tighten on me to where the cymbal wouldn't move and it could be a danger to the cymbal. These, you push a button, pop on and thats it. The one thing they need, it a loosen of the inner screw to make sure the slicknut doesn't move, or loosen it a little for a quick release. I haven't had one problem with these.
You have this problem, this is your solution. Get this now!! Lol
Quick on/off slip. If a cymbal breaks, these come off so quick to pop a new cymbal back on and get on with the show. Sturdy too.
10/10. Sturdy, strong, can't see it breaking ever. Had this for about 2 months.
You need this. You will not be wasiting a dime if you buy this. You could actually be saving money because your cracked cymbals b/c of overtighting, is GONE!!.
Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:
You must tighten the Allen screw or they will pop off. They are much better than the TAMA version, the TAMA's DO pop off.
The advantage to these is that they don't vibrate off like a regular wing-nut.
Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:
Super product. Simple to put on and looks great on stage.
Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:
I have about 12 of these on my set. I really like the hold they put on the cymbals. You can have a tight hold or a loose hold and you know the nut won't go anywhere. The one complaint I have is that you pretty much have to tighten the hex screw on all of them because I've had some jump up the threads (yes, on a 8mm stand) when not even hit all that hard. Also, if the cymbal spins, the Slick Nut will spin with it, causing it to loosen. They work great, and I plan to keep using them, but having to always tighten the hex screw seems to defeat the purpose of "quick release"!
