The first time that I used this grip tape, I wrapped it on my drum sticks. I hated it because it lost its grip after a few weeks of playing. I continued to use Promark Grip tape on my sticks. Now that I'm a percussionist and NOT a drummer for a new band, I like to use Vater grip tape on my fingers. This is EXTREMELY useful when playing Congas. It provides a good amount of "padding" which saves your hands from the conga rims. I found that using Promark tape on my timbale sticks and using Vater Grip tape on my fingers make playing Congas and Timbales EXTRA comfortable.One thing that I would REALLY REALLY REALLY RECOMMEND it if you purchase this. It's a must that when you finish using this tape that you roll up the end of tape so you can find the end of the tape for the next use. The tape sticks to itself so good that you can't find the end of the tape.

This tape can be good if you?re willing to deal with what it takes to use it. Slightly overlapping, wrap your sticks as tightly as you can without ripping the tape apart. Wrapping tightly will keep the tape from sliding down off of your stick when playing, as this tape only sticks to itself, and not to your stick. I use the Ahead drum sticks and can only speak for this type. Be prepared to use Band aids with this tape. Play for a while with your sticks wrapped, until your fingers start to blister and or hurt, then put on the band aids where needed. (Fabric band aids) Do this, on and off, until your hands get calices in all the right places. It will take some time? I change the tape, at the least, weekly. Using a razor blade, I carefully cut down the wrapped portion stick through the tape to remove it. NEVER LET THE END ON THE TAPE STICK TO ITSELF ON THE ROLL!!! It's almost impossible to get apart if you do. Remember, that it sticks only to itself. The tape will provide a great grip that can increase your attack speed substantially, BUT WILL cause blistering, and can be a pain in the A$$, for several reason, to use. However, I will still keep using it. Good luck!!!

i bought this tape cuz my fingers were TORE up and i needed to let them heal for a day or two without sacrificing practice time. the tape overall did the job i needed it to, it was comfortable and saved my fingers like i wanted. having said that, this type of tape can be found next to the band aids in any store for like one or two dollars, it just wont say vater on the tag. also, i found that when i put the tape on the sticks, it slid off after a song or two, however i play pretty hard.
good stuff, does the job, cool colors, but in my opinion, it's overpriced for what it is.

This is my first time using tape on my marching snare sticks, and I have to say its great in reducing pain from current blisters when playing. Putting it on the sticks though causes more blisters than the bare wood would.
The roll literally sticks to itself, you have to make sure you keep the end of the tape loose for use nextime otherwise it will stick to itself and it will be VERY hard to pick off and start again.
Very much worth the price, great for what you pay.

This tape is great for your fingers because it prevents blisters and also makes your existing blisters not hurt as much, but this tape is no good for your sticks. The tape slides off after a while and it causes more blisters than the bare sticks would. Plus, if you're a drummer who can't hold onto his sticks, you need more practice.

When I buy new sticks I wrap them with this tape- and I don't drop a stick during gigs or at practice. Before, I would be into a groove, and "whoop", there would go a stick. My only complaint is that you HAVE TO fold back the loose end, or you will never get the roll started again, it really sticks to itself. I also wrapped my hot rods- a great improvment in grip.

This stuff looks like sand paper!!! It might be okay if you tape your fingers but doesnt it give you even worse blisters if you put it on the sticks? It is a realy good price though.

Tape your finger(s) not your sticks. I almost always have some nasty blister during and after a performance. Not with this tape though.I'll never leave home without it now.

This tape is killer. I never put tape on my sticks, if I break one, I'm out the tape. I used to wrap my fingers in sport tape but It wasn't that flexible. This stuff isn't sticky, its like gauze, and it does bend with your fingers without breaking or coming loose. If your playing long enough to get blisters, buy this. I just finished a 3 hour set. I don't have a mark on me.

I wasn't expecting much. But it is so cheap, I figured why not.I have been using the Ahead grip tape for some time, which I love, however the stuff is expensive after a while. For an active gigging musician, it gets expensive when you go through at least a pair of sticks per weekend. The Vater tape is very thin compared to Ahead grip tape, similar to a medical tape. However, its very easy to apply and is quite comfortable. Just secure the top end with a piece of electrical tape and you are good to go. I played two gigs so far and didn't drop a single stick and had no problems. The grip tape held up well and you can't beat the price. If you are a drummer on a budget, definitely give this a try. As good as Ahead grip tape? No. Better than a bare stick? Yes. A great bang for your buck.

This is great at first, but the fabric starts to spread apart as you play exposing the sticky backing. The sticky stuff gets all over your hands. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

This is pretty much colored medical gauze, which is why it doesn't stick onto your drumsticks. Gauze however, stays on your skin VERY well, plus you can wrap it as tight as you want, as much as you want. Try using it as finger tape, just wrap it around your fingers and part of the palm of your hand. I am going to purchase some myself and use it that way
