Dubbed "traditional" because Vater's regular 7A is longer and has a different tip shape than standard 7As in the industry. This classic-style 7A has a great feel for lighter playing. The drumsticks' small acorn tip delivers full cymbal and drum sounds without being overbearing.

A serious extension of your arm if you play jazz. Many drummers swear by playing with sticks that fit your hand. It depends on how much technique you have and use, me being a rudimental drummer many years before playing jazz had chops to spare, after turning those rudimental chops into jazz chops by learning the moeller method cause me to be extremely loud with 5A sticks and above. I tried Sugar Maples but did not like the vibration in my hands, tried the Manhattan 7A but did not like the round tips because the sound was always the same on cymbals and sometimes dented heads, as I use Remo Ambassadors. This new Traditional 7A is perfect for my technique and the small acorn tip is the best sounding tip I have ever heard on any Ride Cymbal in a long time. Even though they are 15 1/2 inches long, it keeps volume under control unless I use the Moeller 6-8 inch stroke then I can really get loud. Elvin Jones used very small sticks but was loud when he needed to be, so it's all in technique I think. These sticks are perfect for jazz, Vater was smart in creating a old-school 7A drumstick, with small acorn tips and short length. Hip Hip Hooray!!!!
