Overall, I think I will stick with the Alex Gonzalez series sticks for awhile. I think they are good for me, and hope they will work for everyone else exploring new sounds, and new ways to improve.
I use the Dave Weckler sticks because of the reach they have, but these babies have plenty of reach! Meaning they are longer than the usual stick.Also they are thicker sticks so you'll feel the weight difference. I really liked the control they give since I switch from heavy to lighter playing in my style and technique. Also they give the balance when playing a fast on the Hi-hats meaning it is easier to control how fast you play, I think it is because they longer sticks and contain a little more weight. I really enjoyed playing on these, and I will galdly buy more pairs for spares.
PS-provides a nice natural rim shot sound...just like Alex Gonzalez does.
Okay, so all sticks wear out. And all Vic Firth sticks are great...I've been drumming with using VIC since I can remember and I have been drumming for over 12 years. These did wear out a little faster then the Dave Wecklers signature series. However, I did practice almost every day, so I guess that could have been the reason. BUT, they never broke on me. They just got thinner and thinner. Again I wouldn't blame the quality of the stick, each drummer plays different styles, and some play more often then others. and some hit harder/softer and differently than others. Review your style of playing before blaming the quality on these great sticks. Meaning, give them a try and see if helps you.
You can't find these sticks in normal music stores...I looked around in my local area and nothing. Musicians Friend is the place to get them. They are great for the price the sell.

I bought these sticks just to try em out & to compare with my current sticks (Matt Sorum signature sticks). These sticks only lasted maybe 3 practices & broke on our 2nd show. About an inch from the tip is where they broke off. Now with the Matt sorum drumsticks I use, those puppies last me maybe a good solid 2 months before they finally break. But they break from the middle from all the rimshots I do. Not from the tip area. These sticks are poorly constructed for heavy playing. But if you're a light player like jazz or something sofer then these are a great pair.

I've used all kinds of sticks and these by far are the best. Alex Gonzalez has always been one of my fav. drummers, so one day I come across these babies. I didn't know whether they would be my size, or whether I would like them but I trusted Alex with these ones. And they are amazing, I have gone through 2 pairs in 1 year, they just don't break (I don't play soft or hard). If you have medium sized hand they will work perfect, they are more like 5b sticks.
