This is a great product for a player who plays just about every style of music, although for metal you would want something a little heavier than this. I've used both the nylon tip and regular wooden tips. The nylon tips do a great job of bringing out a brighter cymbal stike. The grip on the sticks are effective as long as you don't hold on TOO tight where your hands get sweaty. And I've taken these to The House of Blues in Dallas, the Dallas Music Fest, and numerous local venues around central Texas. Great sticks for a great value.

If you're looking for a good grip, this is not the stick you want. I have a big problem with sticks slipping when I play for a while.. I normally buy Vater grip tape which works great, but decided to give these a try just to see if the grip works... IT DOESN'T... They were actually more slippery than just wood by itself. Look elsewhere if you need a better grip and don't waste money on these.

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
Been playing for 20+ and Vic Firth finally nailed the dipped stick. The sticks themselves less the dip are of the quality you'd expect from VF. Adding in a grip coating that is durable, yet just tacky enough to give that extra bit of grip when things get slippery make them a good choice for when it matters. I can burn through the Zildjian's stick coatings in a set, whereas these will get me through a show or two no problem before I'm seeing any wood and that is only where my thumb makes contact.
Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
I've always like Vic's sticks. Nicely balanced even with the grip. I especially like the grip as my hands are normally pretty dry. They don't slip on me even when my hands get cold. I've switch out my entire stick back with these.

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
The grip seems good at first but once your hands get sweaty, it actually makes the sticks more slippery than regular non gripped sticks. Just buy regular American Classic sticks.
Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
These drum sticks are not very good. I just recently started playing drums so I don't know if I am playing right, I could be hitting too hard, but the wood dents easily. It could just be the way I am hitting, and how I hit though. I do know though, that the grip is not very effective unless your hands are sweaty. The grip tears easily too, which I was really upset by.
Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
These are some great sticks for concert band! But there to heavy for the drum set!the vic-grip is nice and the weight is good for snare.
Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
To me these sticks were just o.k. when it said Vic grip I thought I was going to get something special. NO. when you play with them they are very heavy and shorter than I expected. As well they slip out of your hands as you play (and I play in church) I do not recomend these to a drummer starting out , but to an expierienced drummer (if that).
Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
I tried the Zildjian sticks and they were too grippy-tore up my hands. These sticks have just the right amount of grip.
Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
Love these sticks! I got them because I sweat alot when I play and I got sick of it and saw these at a local music store and got ripped off (they cost $20 there). But I loved them. Easy to play with not too much grip. Sound great. Vic Firth rocks!!!!
Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:
These really surprised me with how great they are. These are especially good if you wear gloves like I do, and are starting to dislike the feeling of the stick sliding out of your hand. Great for any drummer.
